The small vessel had slipped out of Rylan's home after leaving a note for the man who had adopted them, the void that made up their bodies singing with the urge to get out and head to the forest. Why, they weren't sure, but there had to be a reason. The world was big, though, and it was easy to get lost. Shy wasn't much of a map-reader, either. So, like the tale of Hansel and Gretel, they left behind a trail of stones to guide them back home. Their footsteps barely made a sound and they were careful to avoid stepping on any branches or causing any sort of sound - they still didn't know what sort of creatures lurked here, ones that might be eager to make a snack out of them. The hem of their cloak, oversized as it was, would probably be dirty when they got back, but hopefully Rylan wouldn't be too angry with them.
Then they stopped. Their void had grown quiet all of a sudden and they glanced around nervously. Maybe it was best if they tried to call out to whatever or whomever was supposed to be waiting for them here? But then again, they had no way of knowing if others made of void had come here and would also hear their call. (Hello-is-anyone-there-I-won't-hurt-you. Self-name-Shy-am-unarmed-no-threat.) Maybe it hadn't been wise to advertise the fact that they were unarmed, but if the reason they'd been called here was for a sibling then it was important that they found them and brought them home where they would be safe from the dangers of this world.
A moment passed without a response. Then another. Maybe they'd been wrong, and they had come out here for nothing? They should probably be getting back then, before their guardian noticed that they were missing. They didn't want to worry him, though he'd probably be able to tell they'd been outside from their muddy feet. Maybe they should see about cleaning up a little before they went into their home again - they didn't really want to track mud all over the floors.
