Brightening a little at the prospect of being able to show their newly discovered but already cherished sibling something, Moth paused to pick up a piece of wood from the ground. It was a fairly unremarkable stick, but that was alright. Sharp little claws got to work on carving swirls to start off with, practising. Then, on a thicker part of the stick, they attempted a rendition of their sibling's face. (How-this-look? Is-Shy-sibling.)
They couldn't help pausing at the second assurance, wings flapping a little faster. (Slow-down-Moth-might-take-off-too-much-happy-at-once!)
(Moth-sibling-draw-self?) Shy sounded a little surprised at this, but they took the stick and inspected it. (Looks-very-similar-to-self. Self-like-picture-a-lot. Moth-sibling-good-at-drawing. Maybe-when-self-claws-grow-in-might-be-better-at-drawing-too-can-draw-Moth-sibling-in-return.) Or so they hoped, glancing down at their own little stubs that took the place of actual hands. They didn't know how long it would take for them to have their first adolescent molt, but hopefully not too long - they wanted to have fingers and claws just like their more world-wise sibling.
Pleased that their sibling liked the image, Moth bounced slightly and glowed a little brighter, just enough that the luminescence was faintly visible. (Shy-sibling-likes? Moth-self-pleased! Shy-sibling-keep-picture?) Sure, it was just on a stick, but oh well.
(No-claws-yet? Self-claws-came-swift. Maybe-difference-like-cloaks-wings-horns?) Moth speculated, having wondered about the differences that set them apart. (Sure-claws-Shy-gets-someday.)
Shy nodded. (Keep-picture-inside-no-break,) they answered, a void tendril sneaking out from under their cloak to take the stick and pull it into the void that made up their body. (Moth-sibling-glow? Very-pretty. Self-cannot-glow-maybe-need-molt-first-to-have-claws-and-things.) For now, though, it seemed they would just have to make do with what they had until their body decided it needed to grow. (Maybe-yes-self-not-know-how-long-it-takes-for-molt.)
Pleased to see that their gift was safe, Moth bounced slightly and nodded. (No-idea-why-glow-but-shows-way-a-little-in-dark.) While they'd found out about their paternal origins, they had little idea from whence they'd inherited the glow. (Is-pretty? Shy-sibling-horns-whirl-also-pretty. Not-know-how-long-for-molt-self-claws-came-without-one.) At least if they had claws, it was a fair indication that Shy had a chance at getting some too. (Are-we-nearly-there?)
The slightly taller vessel nodded. (Moth-sibling-has-very-pretty-glow. Sibling-think-self-horns-pretty? Self-thanks-Moth-sibling.) They would only have a few more steps to go and they motioned for Moth to follow them, the pair soon arriving at Shy's and their father's home. (Not-sure-if-father-guardian-still-asleep-but-will-introduce-Moth-sibling-if-not. Still-early-enough-that-father-guardian-might-not-be-up.) They pushed the door open and headed inside, allowing Moth to come in with them if they wished.
(Is-good-to-hear-thank-Shy-sibling.) Moth responded with a slight bounce, turning fascinated eye hollows towards the dwelling they'd arrived at. This architecture looked very different to the styles they'd seen before. Well, at least it didn't seem dangerous so far. (Maybe-Moth-self-should-be-hidden-at-first? So-not-startle? Shy-sibling-could-explain-then-show?) They knew they didn't tend to like being startled, so why would anyone else?
(No-need-for-Moth-sibling-to-hide-father-guardian-will-love-you-promise.) Though Rylan might be surprised by the fact that they had brought someone home with them, it wasn't a bad surprise at least from their perspective. Hopefully he wouldn't mind having two little vessels around instead of the one he might have planned on upon discovering Shy's egg in the beginning. (Do-not-hear-father-guardian-yet-maybe-still-asleep?) they mused.
Hesitant, but not believing that their sibling would lie to them about something like this, Moth nodded slowly. (If-Shy-sibling-sure-then-Moth-self-not-hide.) They responded after a few moments, with a soft sigh of air from their vents. (Does-Shy-know-if-father-guardian-can-speak-with-hands? Moth-was-learning-that.) Admittedly, they were hardly fluent, but they knew at least a few signs so far.
(No-but-father-guardian-is-teaching-self-to-write-can-practice-together-until-he-wakes?) Shy suggested. It would be something for them to do at least, and this way they might also be able to teach Moth how to read letters and possibly simple sentences to begin with. Even if they were younger, they were hopeful that they would be able to help their newfound family member in whatever way that they could.
That sounded like a good idea to Moth - it would be so much easier to communicate if they had some kind of baseline to work with. (Good-idea-maybe-can-use-both? We-learn-he-learns? Can't-always-be-holding-things-to-write-with.) They pointed out, inclining their head a little. They might need to find more resources on sign for that, though, they'd only learned a little from the friendlier bugs along their path.
(True-is-good-idea-will-be-helpful-for-all-of-us-to-learn-as-much-as-possible. Maybe-self-can-learn-how-to-speak-with-hands-like-Moth-sibling?) Shy asked. Though it would probably take them a while to actually begin to grasp the language Moth spoke, they at least could communicate via voidspeech to better understand what certain gestures meant. That would certainly be helpful throughout the learning process. Maybe they could find some books that would teach them more?
(Would-be-glad-to-help-Shy-sibling-speak-in-hands!) Moth responded at once, bouncing slightly at the thought. (For-now-though-would-like-to-look-around-more. Could-you-show-me-more-of-here-please?) In any new place, it was a good idea to learn what was what and where it was, after all. Even somewhere meant to be safe. (Where-does-Shy-sleep? Should-self-go-there-too?)
(Yes-can-do-that-self-and-Moth-sibling-can-maybe-share-room?) Shy suggested. Though they didn't mind being alone, they didn't think Moth would make them feel uncomfortable if they stayed in their room together, but if their guardian was open to it they might be able to set up another room for Moth in case they might not want to share a room. (Please-follow-self.) The slightly taller vessel would lead Moth to their room, painted a shade of purple not unlike the color of their cloak. Since they hadn't been living here for very long, they didn't have much in the way of personal belongings.
(That-sounds-nice-don't-want-to-be-alone-somewhere-so-new-if-a-sibling-is-here-to-stay-with.) Moth responded at once, perkinng up a little at the thought. Oh, they'd stayed in all sorts of places entirely by themself, but not with the sure and certain knowledge that a sibling was somewhere nearby.
Following Shy into the rather purple room, they would have chittered if they'd had the ability. (This-looks-nice! We're-kind-of-blending-in-here,-like-a-place-meant-for-us-to-be-able-to-hide!) Moth had no real concept of how many possessions was normal, at last for the time being, so the bareness of the place held no surprise for them.
