Raferties (phonetics: Raaf-eer-tees)
Known Titles: Keeper of Lore, Firstborn of the Guardians
Gender: Male
Race/Species: Angel, two winged (standard)
Age: 10,682 years
Height: 6 2
Weight: around 172 lbs or so
Build: Trim but not really muscular
Complexion: fair (he didnt get out often)
Hair: Black
Eyes: Sea green
Other: The outer edges of his feathers are lined with a silver color, giving his wings a mottled silver-white appearance. He can pluck his own feathers, after which they regrow in a day, but if they are taken without his knowledge or permission they turn into dust in seconds. He uses these as writing quills (they write in a silvery 'ink') or to give as gifts to those he thinks of as close friends. In his world, to own an Angelic Feather is a high honor, and they often became family heirlooms. Legends say that they can grant wishes or call the angel that gave it, but this is just a myth, as he would inform any who ask (though some do find comfort in holding one).

Typical Attire: Sandals, slightly puffy brown pants that cuff tight at his ankles, white tunic with two long segments in the back and one down the front/long sleeves that flare from elbow to wrist, purple sash around waist and with a length of it going from right up to left shoulder, slender gold chain for a belt holding a harp at his right hip, gold bands on his wrists. Hair is often braided or tied back (better to keep out of the ink that way) and hangs to mid-back.

Meaning of Titles:
"Keeper of Lore" - Raferties served Solaris as the protector of his heavenly library and all the tomes and knowledge held within. He recorded the results of angelic missions, events of note to Solaris such as the births and deaths of holy heroes, and the location, details on, and means of destruction for artifacts of both good and evil.
Firstborn of the Guardians: The first angel Solaris created was one of the mighty six-winged Archangels who would be given the name Kaldos. The second created was one of the powerful, four-winged Seraphs, a female given great healing powers. Then came Raferties, the first of the two-winged 'Guardians', so nicknamed because they are most often associated with being 'guardian angels' watching over others. They are often set at protecting places considered sacred to Solaris, such as Raferties did with his Library.
Personality:
Raferties is the epitome of a gentle soul. He has a smooth, melodic speaking voice and soft expression in his eyes, more prone to smiling then frowning, and infinitely more so than scowling. Compassionate and patient to a fault, its difficult to make him angry and quite simple to provoke him sympathy. However he has little tolerance for those who intentionally harm others, do evil acts, or threaten the innocent and the young.
As Keeper of the Heavenly Library, Raferties was in charge of not only recording the birth, life, and death of many valiant heroes and champions of good, but also in providing guidance to others of the angelic orders when they had difficult missions, taking their reports on the events of said missions, and safeguarding the location, lore, and weaknesses of powerful artifacts both of good and evil. He had an eidetic memory, as well as a phonic memory, so anything he sees and heard he can write down perfectly later on.
Like all the angels of his home heavens, Raferties was a part of what was called the Heavenly Chorus, a melodic harmony that permeated the air of the heavens and bound them all together and they with their deity, Solaris. Unlike popular myth, they dont sing when they speak, although to hear the celestial tongue is akin to hearing singing and the harmonies of the Chorus continually drift on the air like scents on the breeze. Sadly, since he fled his home heavens he has lost connection with the Chorus, a condition that causes him some emotional pain as that can either happen if he has passed beyond Solaris reach or if the heavens he was formed into was destroyed. Thankfully, he was refound by Keldos and thus knows Solaris and the Chorus survived the fiendish assault, and accepts that as the comfort it is.
Also in line with his siblings, Raferties is skilled in singing, which is enhanced by his superior memory of the music he hears keeping him note-perfect. He is also capable of playing many instruments, but his forte comes from anything stringed especially his treasured harp, which he keeps at his side on an gilded chain. If asked to play, he is more than happy to oblige.
Powers/Abilities:
Light: can turn himself into an angelic beacon, glowing with pale yellow light like a torch. Can be used as a light source, or as a display of angelic power and radiance.
Blinding Flash: More potent than just Light, he can cause the radiance to explode in a blinding burst all around him. Does no harm otherwise
Holy Fire: Just about his only real attack causes a silvery-gold cone of flame to spring from his fingertips or the tip of his staff. He can, alternately, make this power take the shape of a sphere that he throws if he needs to be a bit more focused in his efforts.
Heavenly Staff: Raferties staff has been with him from his creation, is near-indestructible, packs a punch if he swings it, and can be used to block and parry attacks (though hes never really had to do that, other than in practice).
Healing: although not as strong as his more combat-orientated brothers and sisters, he does have a relatively swift healing property, and can heal minor wounds with a touch and a prayer (nothing greater than a fractured bone (so breaks are right out)). He can also remove infection and minor diseases, such as flu, food poisoning, and pox (however he cannot heal the common cold nothing can that he knows of haha)
Flight: Raferties when flying at full speed is about as fast as a person running, although he can gain a burst of speed by rising high into the air and diving down with wings tucked in. He can hover, though due to his having only two wings the continuous beating needed to do so makes him slightly bounce midair, unlike the perfect hovering capabilities of his four- and six-winged brethren.
The Guardian's Mark: Sometimes called more poetically 'The Guardian's Kiss,' it's a mark that can be applied to any individual. Invisible to the eye after it's application, the mark is a personal rune that identifies Raferties by name, and its presence the bearer as one who has the Lorekeeper's protection. All of Raferties' siblings can automatically sense the mar's presence, and with a bit of focus can ID the one who made it. Also, Raferties can think on his 'charge' to assess their general well-being, and if the need is great enough teleport to their side (though this costs him a good deal of his celestial power to do). He can also, as long as he can see his charge, 'take the blow' for them, causing the mark to flare and wrapping the individual in a golden light, transferring any wounds they would otherwise take to Raferties instead. Obviously, he doesn't do this often. It's applied by a touch of the fingers, a brush of the wing, or a kiss, typically to the forehead.
Words of Creation: By far and away, Raferties' most terrible, and greatest, power, one that he does not use unless the situation is dire indeed. In his patron's corner of the multiverse, each deity used these Words in the formation of the world, and then stored them in a select angel, each a fragment so that none alone could use its power. Raferties received this task from Solaris. The only time he ever speaks in his True Voice is when he uses this power, though it comes at a high cost: One will do little alone, but will drain you still/Two will tear at your throat like blades./The price of three, six beats of the heart./Four will tear you apart. Thankfully, he has never needed more than three Words.
Vulnerabilities
Raferties' fast healing makes it hard to damage him on a more lasting or permanent basis, and severed limbs would like reattach if places on the stump (though someone else would have to do this for him, as he would be in great pain at the time). BUT, the angel isn't invulnerable.
He has lost his immunity to poisons, trading it down for a simple resistance against them (and thus he can get buzzed or drunk from alcohol, and drugs can take him out). Also, like any other, bones can be broken and will not heal properly, fast healing or no, without being set first.
Above all else, though, Raferties recoils from fiend-forged weapons or attacks. Claws of a demon, blade wielded by a devil, anything of that nature material or magic can shred through his flesh and negates his regeneration utterly for that wound. (Half-blood fiends cannot do this unless they wield weapons forged by their pure-blood kin) A pure blooded fiend of any sort could take his life, permanently. And without knowing for certain if his home heaven still exists, likely there would only be oblivion ahead.
Quirks:
Raferties has a few quirks, mostly speech mannerisms. He tends to not use contractions, unless he's in a terrible hurry, and is very polite.
However, there is one phrase he will never speak - he will never say any variant of 'I fell.' It's not out of pride, for he would easily admit to 'I tripped/stumbled/crashes/had an unfortunate meeting with the ground' or anything of that nature. But in the heavens he came from, for an angel to say they or anther 'Fell' it means they turned their back on Solaris and their brothers and sisters in the Chorus, allowing their wings to turn ebon black and darkening their souls, never to walk in the light again.
