The Wizard's Familiar White Mottle Male, Yeridajniosjuth
Most Pernese dragons, mottles included, hatch as Pernese dragons and are quite used to their existence being what it is. Yeri is not one of them. When he hatched, he was a full-blooded dragon, what folks on Teragaia call a "wild dragon", bonded to Ellone out of respect, not life-force. He was her familiar, not her dragon. He lived with her, ate her food, poked his nose over her shoulder to observe her spellcasting, and hoped his draconic spell resistance protected him from the fallout when her spells went wild. Yeri was smart for a white dragon, probably in part due to his own mottle heritage -- he was part red to begin with, indicated by the two red stripes that go the length of his body head to tail. However, they didn't remain on Faerun, and Yeri didn't remain what he was.
Teragaia translated the poor beast, so he's a Pernese-blooded mottle now. This opens him up to the Dragon Grapevine, so he has all the other Pernese dragons talking in his head now where it used to be quiet -- quite the adjustment! And it's also new to be speaking telepathically with mindspeech instead of speaking Draconic out loud. Perhaps the largest adjustment, however, was the transition to full adulthood from abject juvenile, because Pernese dragons mature much faster than "wild" dragons -- this, at least, Yeri enjoys. It's good to be grown up. He might not have his armoring scales anymore, replaced by the smooth skin of a Pernese dragons, but he's bigger and arguably stronger than he was before as a child of the same age.
What sets Yeridajniosjuth apart from Pernese dragons -- apart from the general complication of his name, ending in -th though it does -- is mostly his personality. Most Pernese dragons are helpful and cooperative with their Impressed riders, genuine and loving creatures, gentle and kind. Yeri is not that. Yeri is sassy, temperamental, and if there's any way he can get out of being ridden, he will find it. It's not that he doesn't love Ellone, he does, in his way, he's just not cut out for a life of service. He's a dragon, you know, a proud creature with a prouder lineage, he's not meant to be someone's steed. He'll let Ellone ride him, sort of, but he won't allow straps or anything saddle-reminiscent because that would imply he enjoys being ridden and that's just not the truth. Some Pern-bloods can't stand sharing their riders, but in Yeri's opinion, the faster Ellone gets another dragon, the faster he can go back to being her familiar and not her transportation.
