Gertude stepped into the warm bakery, taking in the scents of fresh baked bread and cinnamon. Moving further into the room, she tugged her dark green sweater down to better show off the red nose reindeer face plastered to the front of it. Puffballs in various shades of Christmas lights took the place of bells along the parts of the harness that would be visible. She even went as far as hanging the same color set up into his antlers as lights. The only reason she had avoided bells was the fact she hadn't wanted to accidentally annoy anyone with their sound.
It was enough that she had tied a cluster of bells at the end of her braid today.
Moving up to the counter, she ordered some hot chocolate and a giant funnel cake, piled high with powdered sugar. She had come to enjoy sweets and she would do so with no judgement! That was the fun of making an ugly sweater and wearing it about. Taking her order, she would find a space to sit in the crowded bakery and watch the people walk by, content by the warmth of the bakery and people.
Tide stepped into the bakery, quickly moving off to the side to let in others. It was a busy place and it was amazing she could hear herself think at all. Sweeping her gaze around, she spotted the table she was looking for and made a beeline towards it. The bakery had put out a notice earlier in the day about needing help decorating their baked goods. They were churning them out as fast as they could, but still couldn't keep up with demand. Never one to let a call for help fall on deaf ears, Tide had made her way to the small business.
Finding a seat, she immediately got to work. Her hands were steady as she piled frosting on top of all kinds of cupcakes. So many types! There was the classic chocolate and vanilla of course. But carrot cake and chocolate chip had join the mix and she was sure somehow someone had taken the time to make an edible glitter cupcake. She may have to try and snag one of those later for her and Khareesh.
For now though, she focused on making peaks of frosting in blues and greens and reds on some of the cupcakes. Sprinkles in the shape of snowflakes and stockings made a mess over the table she was working at, but the result on the cupcakes were so worth it. For those that didn't like a lot of frosting, she would put just enough on the top of the cupcake to give it that sweet factor. Add in a gum drop or a candy cane for some visual interest and she thought these frosted 'plains' looked just as wonderful as the tall peaks of frosting.
She hadn't noticed, but by the end of the day, she would come home with frosting in her hair, sprinkles glued just about everywhere, and three glitter cupcakes for herself and her family.
The companions would just have to go decorate to get their own.
