Mildred glided across the ice, letting the cold air sting her cheeks. Winter had seemed to come over night to Teragaia or maybe she hadn't been paying that much attention to the changing of the seasons. She had gone to sleep with just the last of the leaves falling to the ground and had woken up to a sea of white. She had spent the morning with a warm cup of tea looking out at the beautiful scene.
The first snowfall always held a strange kind of peace in her mind. It was a blank slate, the possibilities endless. So many choices and so many decisions. There was no wrong moves yet. The first step of a journey. It would seem that no matter where she lived, as long as there was a first snowfall, she would watch the world slowly wake up and make their mark on the surface.
Rabbits hoping through the powder looking for food. Children building forts and having snowball fights. The neighbors shoveling their drives. Snowmen being erected in nearly every yard...She had enjoyed watching it all. And with each fresh snowfall resetting the slate, she hardly ever felt more at peace.
Even now, skating across the frozen lake, she was taking in the design that people had left on the winter wonderland and wondered what the next snowfall would spark.
Winter had certainly arrived and Nec, after digging out his wonder coat from under a very reluctant-to-let-it-go Sealgair, headed outside for a look.
After a while he arrived at a frozen lake (had it been here yesterday?) with some people skating. Now, skating wasn't really Nec's thing, but when spotting a familiar face...
Okay so it was childish but the temptation was too much! A snowball flew at Mildred, aimed for her head but possibly a bit high, especially with her moving. It was loosely packed even if it did hit, so no damage would be cause, but certainly a cold cloud of white fluff!
Mildred had been so lost in her thoughts that when the snowball hit, sending flurries everywhere, she had been a bit stunned. "Oh! Kemori I'm going to-" Her words stopped as she figured out where the snowball had come from and it...It wasn't who she had been expecting. The fox man she had thought thrown the ball was instead the blue troll.
Skidding to a stop, she crossed her arms, feeling the wet snow melt down her neck. Now just what did she do? Why, the only acceptable thing to do. Picking up speed once more, she made a beeline for him, making sure to stop in such a way as to send a bunch of frozen lake pieces in his direction.
"Attacking a poor girl while her back is turned. Have you no shame?" The fresh snow had her in a humorous mood and she hoped Nec would pick up on that. She wasn't actually mad. Just...Surprised.
"Very easily. Could have just told yourself it was a bad idea." Mildred would stand at ease, arms coming up to cross her chest. Her interactions with the changeling were few and far between. She didn't exactly have a dislike for him...She also had no love for him either. He was...Neutral to her. Though some interesting rumors had been flying around...
"You just gonna stand there or you gonna join me on the ice?" She would glance down, towards his feet, wondering if he could even ice skate to begin with.
