"Oof! Oh, this is not good."
Isolde picked herself up from where the strange portal had dropped her and found that she was...nowhere familiar. This was certainly not her own world and by the looks of it she wasn't getting back any time soon. She could only hope this world would be more forgiving to a female witcher than the last.
She took a step forward and her boot snagged on something in the sand. Isolde bent down and picked up what looked to be a bizarre but oddly lovely horse figurine on a cherry wood stand. The mane and tail were even soft, made of some kind of plush material. Isolde dusted the sand off and found that a word was carved into the wooden base. Kalaj'malana. Isolde wiped the sand out of the carving and murmured the name.
"Kalaj'malana, eh?"
And just as suddenly, she was holding an empty wooden base, the horse upon it gone. Standing in front of her was a flesh-and-blood horse, parts of which were made out of the same materials the statuette had been.
"So that is your summon-name? May I ride you?"
Kalaj'malana nickered like a live horse and sidled closer, allowing for exactly that. Every witcher felt more confident with a horse, so it was from horseback that Isolde looked around and saw a flame burning in the distance. It was as good a place to start as any, so she nudged her statue-horse into a canter with her knees and rode toward that beacon.
She eventually ended up at a temple, which bore a vague resemblance to the temples of Melitele back home, if Melitele had ever required a fountain in Her courtyard that extended indoors. Isolde dismounted, telling Kalaj'malana to stay -- and she did -- and followed the water into the temple to find the source of the fire that had drawn her from so far away. She certainly didn't expect that fire to be a bird!
Debut of new character!
Two free stars -- Phoenix Flame, please, gender unimportant.
Here's 25 BP for Kalaj, the Sumine Composite Equine Female I wrote up for an event that crashed and now I'm buying. 8) Kalaj'malana is already written, but anyone who wants to take a crack at the Phoenix has creative freedom.
