Although still a grub, Moth was as yet unused to the idea of needing to stay where an adult knew where they'd be. They'd survived on their own before, it was what they knew, so it didn't seem to them that heading out for a bit of exploration would be at all uncalled for. After all, even if there had been foes as frequent as in the ruined realm of their origin, they had wings with which to avoid them.
Knowing what was around was fairly important, as far as they were concerned, and that included finding significant locations. The spot the breeze was currently helping them towards seemed to fit the bill for that, considering they had never seen concentric rings of hedges before. Surely, the pool at the centre must be significant - maybe there'd be a charm there? Flying lower, they started towards the beckoning glimmer of the water.
OOC: Here to redeem Moth's starter stars for one or two shinies, and I asked Shy to make Moth a creature or creatures. I've got a list of potential compatibilities here for them, and any of the one or two star listings would be lovely. In the case of Athids, wings would probably be best, but not essential.
He had been waiting for what seemed like an eternity for his bonded, so was it really any wonder he'd taken to daydreaming while he waited? Surely not, though he soon snapped to attention when he heard footsteps. Hopefully they had finally arrived. Slithering out of the darkness, the winged serpent's gaze finally landed on Moth. There you are. I'm ssso glad you've finally come, he hissed out, his tone unflinchingly polite.
The sky was already calling his name, though rather than immediately spread his wings he knew ceremony must be followed. Therefore, he moved up Moth's arm and then around their neck. The bond would settle into place with the rush of wind and a sensation of unbridled joy. Clearly this was a creature whose home was the sky rather than the ground. Now that we are together, perhaps you would be willing to give me a name?
Head In The Clouds, Heart In The Sky Male Krait
Mindspeech: Bold #540f0d
Being male, this red-headed krait is only about four feet in length. He's prone to daydreaming when he's not in the air, feeling the wind brush along his scales and ruffle his feathers. His wings are blue-gray in color and broken up with darker gray markings that have no particular pattern or shape. He can stay in the air for quite a long time and will do so until he's too worn out to do much more flying. Like most of his rank, he becomes more active during night and can be rather sluggish during the day, which often leads to him sleeping curled up next to his bonded or with his bonded's other creature companions. As he normally does his flying at night, he's developed a slight fear of owls due to one catching him and very nearly eating him - though the injury has long since faded, the memory of the experience stayed. He enjoys hunting small birds moreso than other snakes, but is happy to settle for other snakes if he happens to get hungry during the day since they don't require as much energy to hunt. He will often tag along with Moth regardless of his state of exhaustion though, as a constant reminder that they are not alone and they have someone willing to fight alongside them should things happen to get dicey.
Startled by a voice in their head that wasn't tinged by void, Moth peered around from where they'd landed in curiosity. Had they not been addressed directly, they might have considered the serpent a possible threat - he was longer than they were tall, after all, and a decidedly unknown factor.
(Have-you-been-waiting-long?) They asked in confusion, only to realise moments later that of course void speech wouldn't be heard. Fortunate, then, that they knew enough sign to repeat the question - and all the more fortunate that he seemed to understand that, seeming perhaps a touch amused.
Long enough, long enough, but you're here now, and that's what matters. Although uncertain how that could be so, Moth accepted this, gently attempting to stroke the creature who'd wound himself around them so snugly. The feeling of the bond forming brought with it a sort of understanding - here was someone else whose home was the sky, someone they could share that with - a comforting thought...
They initially drew a blank when asked for a name, but from somewhere within their mind, they recalled when they'd asked about the new place they'd arrived in and the creatures within it. The long noodly fliers liked certain kinds of names, didn't they? Moth had forgotten most of the examples, but there was one they could still fingerspell that seemed fitting. <What about Fernand?> <> used to frame signed words.
