Bending the River 'Round the Mountains Green, Tualarth Runic Gizzard Stone: Sleep GasTualarth consumes firestone and breathes sleep gas instead of flames as per the item in Kalatis' Rare Relics
Greens are usually passionate creatures, and Tualarth is possibly no exception except that she is. Her rider runs hot, acting and reacting in every situation, but Tualarth for her part is more content to observe. In a more intellectual creature she might reflect Melonwei's scientific curiosity, indeed, Tualarth is endlessly curious and wants to know everything, but the hard truth is she's a Pernese green with all entailed limitations. She's no scientist. More an eternal child, always ready to explore and learn...and forget, and learn again.
Tualarth is an astoundingly sweet-natured creature when one considers she's an extension of Melonwei's soul. At first the compassionate, child-like, passive dragon seems an utter mismatch to the vibrant, active, often violent Veiled Sister to whom she Impressed, but Tualarth does not represent the Melonwei-that-was. Melonwei-that-was was a very different creature from Melonwei-that-is, although Melonwei-that-is does not regret her past self -- she must merely change and adapt with circumstance. So too must a river bend when a mountain is placed in its path, and in this instance we might call the mountain Tualarth. Or possibly Haven Weyr. Tualarth tempers Melonwei, brings out what empathy and compassion such as exists inside of her, and Melonwei adapts to being a citizen rather than a villain.
A perfect, dainty creature, Tualarth reaches 19m nose to tail tips, just a smidge small for her rank. She has a particularly elegant wingspread, speaking well of her mother Yuleth. Tualarth is a lovely forest green, with a dripping of emerald down her back and along her neck.
Tualarth's mind-touch is the embrace of an old friend, the discovery of something long-lost and now returned. For Melonwei this mind-touch is an upwelling of unconditional love.
Princess of the Rebel Underground Gold, Adelindra Aeon's Kiss Speech:Italic#fff146
Melonwei found a derelict nest of wild firelizard eggs on the beach, the mother nowhere to be seen. Perhaps something had happened to her, perhaps she had abandoned the nest, Melonwei was not to say. All she knew was that few of the eggs remained viable and of those, it was hatching day and someone had to be their mother. Precious green Tualarth waded into the sea to snatch fish to bring the ravenous youngsters, and one of the survivors, the little gold, Impressed upon the fallen Veiled Sister and rising apprentice weyrhealer that day.
The tenacity, stubbornness, and refusal to die that the little gold displayed, combined with her personality -- by appropriate turns completely affable and a vicious little beast when threatened -- reminded Melonwei of the princess of her home nation of Il'lorne. Not the princess who had assassinated the king to take his throne, but the sister she banished into the sewers and who presumably continues to direct the Resistance to this day from that same base in those same sewers. Thus, Adelindra earned her name.
She earned it more when she aged out of babyhood and Melonwei discovered that the clever little golden beauty could talk. Granted, a pure Pernese firelizard is not the apex of shiny intelligence or complexity, but Adelindra is by far delightfully surprisingly much smarter than Melonwei anticipated and much smarter than pure Pernese flits tend to be, and any conversation at all is reward enough.
Adelindra is a lanky little thing, long-limbed and a little spidery. Her egg sat abandoned for a good long while. She's never going to look perfectly healthy, always a little drawn and underfed, but she's now at least cared for and for all that she looks underfed...she isn't. Melonwei will never admit to having a soft spot, but it does exist, and its name is Adelindra.
Melonwei is a woman of dual personalities ever since her departure from the Withered Mask. She is both powerful and ruthless, but at the same time vulnerable and fragile. She is in transition between what she was, and who she will become.
Also is this particular Hellhound of dual emotions, though for him it is not transition it is strength!
He is one of the rare Hellhounds that advanced up the ladder of their kind, being born an Omega and both through battle and deed ascended to become a Hunter. And here he has found his place, and his purpose.
As the rank states, he is first and foremost a hunter. Set on a trail and there are very few things he cannot track down. When he starts his pursuit with his prey in his sight, he will never fail to run it to ground. He never forgets a scent he is asked to follow, and nothing - not rivers, nor mountains, nor a fortress walls - will get between him and his prey. He is serious and determined, rarely showing a sense of humor or participating in celebrations except as an observer. His mind seems utterly enthralled in the hunt. He is powerful, strong and agile, fierce and proud.
But then the coin flips, and his duality comes to light. He is a startlingly generous creature, especially for a Hellhound. If his Bonded asks him to hunt he will stalk only the best for her. When he makes his kill he will not withhold a single morsel for himself, delivering the whole to Melonwei no matter his own hunger. He will find herbs for her healing and return with more than she needed. If she is helping those in need, he will supply a bounty to fill their bellies. He will push himself to exhaustion to ensure others have enough, and Melonwei most of all.
He is Hunter, he is Provider.
Standing at three feet tall at the shoulder he had charcoal-colored fur that lies smooth to his body, giving him a streamline appearance and accentuating his powerful muscles when he moves. As it is with his fellow Hunters each paw is crimson red to match the band across his startling ice blue eyes.
At approximately 22 feet in length and with scales that seem to glow, this yellow anaconda prefers spending most of her time sunbathing. She is surprisingly light for a creature of her size, which enables her to fly despite most others of her rank not being able to. She is also capable of performing spells to some degree, though most of them are long-range as she doesn't have quite as much in the way of physical strength. There is one quirk of hers that she holds close to her metaphorical chest, as it is one that most would make fun of if they so much as knew - she is terrified of the dark. Though the reason for this is not known, she's more than happy to hunt during the day as her vibrant yellow scales don't stand out quite as much and unsurprisingly she prefers hunting among sun-warmed rocks for lizards and other creatures that might be able to slip between the cracks unnoticed. But she has a keen eye, this anaconda, and since she is unable to take down larger prey she must catch as many smaller creatures as she possibly can to satiate her hunger. Because of this, it is advised for her future bonded to keep some meat on hand every now and then in case she has a hard time hunting prey.
Mutation: Weighs much less than a winged serpent her rank should, enabling her to fly but also making her much weaker in terms of physical strength
