Name: Shi Daiyu
Race: God… sort of.
Age: Physically 27, Chronologically 458
Pronouns: Any and all, tends to default to they or base off of form.
Height: 5’ 7”
Weight: Sure.
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Blue
Physical Description: Maintaining a youthful appearance both with proper skin care and bright eyes and a positive outlook, many say that Shi Daiyu is older than they actually look. They have two forms that appear to be the same age, a male and female form that they switch between freely. The forms are very similar in appearance, maintaining the same height, eye and hair color and relatively same body shape, the only differences are a much bigger chest and a bit of a rounder face for the female form.
They have long hair that reaches their butt that is usually left down but pulled away from their face. Their nails are often painted and sometimes they wear a light layer of make up depending on their mood. They dress freely and elegantly and their style often encompasses long, swishy layers and dangling earrings and some times a light necklace. This style does not change much, if at all, between forms.
Personality: Positive and with high energy they could almost be described as childlike but there are times where they will grow quiet and defensive when bringing up certain things from their past. They try to remain optimistic but it is clear that they are haunted, though they always try to avoid the subject. They are a peacekeeper, trying to maintain relationships of those around them, and a bit of a social butterfly. They are not shy and can make friends with just about anyone.
They are free spirited and impulsive, even more so now in recent years. They have a hard determination and despite their bright and cheery attitude, it is clear that they have gained a recent bitterness, though they do their best to hide it, even if it tends to come out in salty and degrading quips to themselves or others.
They are slow to anger and often blame themselves for others' problems. Regret and loss are heavy burdens but you will never see them cry.
History: On the run from a curse placed on them at birth, Shi Daiyu lived most their life as a girl. They lived a rich and somewhat spoiled life style and started cultivating from a very young age, with the hopes that they would become strong enough and ascend before the curse caught up with them.
Shi Dayu was very close with their older brother and followed close in his footsteps. Their brother, Shi Fuchao naturally ascended first but Shi Dayu wasn’t too far behind, though the moment of ascension was underwhelming compared to most others. Nothing more than a moment of pettiness as they spilled the tray of a visiting official that dared insult their brother and family.
Regardless, Shi Daiyu lived happily as a god by their brother’s side, loved or at least not-disliked by most. They even made a friend! Zhang Ming, a sour god that seemed to tolerate Shi Daiyu more than actually like them but still never seemed to say no to any of their shenanigans and went along with most of it.
Things were a good for a few centuries, until everything came to light.
Shi Daiyu, unbeknownst to themselves, had been living a lie and had only ascended due to their brother’s manipulation and the cost of Zhang Ming’s life, who was in reality a powerful ghost named Hei Bohai. As a result, everything started to collapse in on itself as Hei Bohai captured Shi Daiyu and forced them to watch as he killed their brother in front of them.
Shi Daiyu lived with Hei Bohai for many years, weighed down by guilt and pain until finally Hei Bohai released them.
It’s been almost 18 years since then, and Shi Daiyu has yet to move on but instead keeps it hidden and buried under a positive exterior. The longer he pretends, the more it becomes true. The answer to all his grief is simply to ignore it.
Though how he walked through a door and ended up in someplace completely different and unrecognizable is something he doesn’t have an answer for.
Powers: Shapeshifting. Shi Daiyu has the ability to change forms at the expense of a bit of spiritual energy. It is non-instantaneous and usually they just shift between female and male forms as they find those are easiest and while their male form is their base form and requires no energy to maintain, they are actually stronger in their female form and will use any excuse to change to it, given the chance.
Wind Manipulation: They have complete control over the winds and was known as the Wind Master in the heavens. Their powers are limited to the usage of their spiritual energy, but they have been known to be able to create windstorms over miles of land. They are much weaker now and prefer to avoid using the abilities when they can.
Spiritual Engery/Qi: They have the ability to manipulate and use Spiritual Energy or Qi. Before they ascended to godhood, they spent most of their life cultivating a spiritual core and can now use that expanse of spiritual energy to activate various powers, including their wind manipulation abilities. It is limited to a point, especially after the loss of their brother, but they still have more to draw from than they care to admit. It replenishes naturally over time.
Vulnerabilities: Any mention of their brother or the incident surrounding his death, causes them to freeze up, grow nervous, change the subject, grow avoidant or just close themselves off all together and grow quiet. Most of this tends to be instantaneous and it isn’t until they have moved completely on from the subject that they come back to their cheerful self again.
Tends to be reckless, sometimes to the point of endangering themselves and not thinking things through.
Running out of Qi can lead to burn out and leave them powerless.
Equipment:
-A fan that they keep tucked away but can’t quite seem to let go of. Painted with the chinese character for wind.
-A talisman that they wear around their neck, cold and dormant, usually tucked away and hidden.
NPCs: Their brother, Shi Fuchao, though currently deceased and only mentioned in passing.
