Brilliance for her part had left Gabriel some weeks back and walked for the open field where she'd first tended wounds. It was a warm and open place, somewhere she felt attuned to and stood among the grasses and trees. It was early morning dawn light just breaking the eastern horizon and she looked around then she turned to the large rock behind her and struck it. The moment it was done she turned back to look at those who may come, she would not allow anyone but another Unicorn to win her heart. She knew that she was going to have a chance to have young of her own, she would add to her kind and maybe help where needed.
Welcome Suitors. Brilliance spoke to those gathering and stood with the clear and clean majesty of a Purity Unicorn. She was a sight and she knew it but now was a time for a suitor to prove themselves.
Rules 1. No other Equines or non Equines. Unicorns only 2. Please read over the Mating Section for Unicorns. 3. There will be five questions asked of the Suitors.
-NPC- Fate the It All Comes Down To This Mercy Unicorn
Fate just so happened to be somewhat nearby when he heard the clanging call that could only be one thing, a Unicorn was calling suitors to their side. His ears twitched forward and he made his way to the source; not too fast so as not to seem over eager, but also just because he could tell he was close already and it wasn't far. He came upon Brilliance standing in the field soon enough and slowed his trot to a stop a respectable distance away from her, bending a foreleg and dipping his head in greeting. She was a beautiful Purity; a rank he had more than enough respect for, both due to their prominence and abilities as well as how a Mercys own abilities were centered around easing pain- in a very different way, of course.
Greetings, it will be an honor to show you my worth.
NPC Jun, the Heart In Abyss, Body There Too Male Nobility Unicorn
Morning came early in these parts. But it was nothing he hadn't expected, or wanted in the first place. He liked the early mornings, the golden glow and the serenity of that first early morning stretch. It was good for morning meditation, before he wandered back into civilization for the week only to return at the end. He lifted himself from the bed of moss he'd found and paused then as a clear ringing reached his ears.
He swiveled them, humming a curious note. Interesting. Someone calling for a Chase. Well, he'd be remiss if he didn't make an appearance.
He trotted off, making ample time. It wasn't too long before he found the calling unicorn; a Purity no less, stunning in her beauty with the morning sun. He paused outside the clearing to shake off his white and gold dappled coat, flicking moisture from it and readying himself. Only then did he calmly walk up to stand beside the Mercy, dipping into a low bow with one leg out before him.
My lady, a pleasure it is to make your acquaintance. This one is called Jun. I am at your service. He straightened back up after speaking, tilting his head just enough to clear his mane from his eyes and flip it to the other side of his neck. He was ready.
The sight of the first being a Mercy made her feel pleased, she could almost just take him as her mate but she waited for another and when the Nobility showed up she turned her head and nodded. The pair were a decent turn out but her attention was first on the Mercy as she looked him over judging him and trying to decide if he was worth the time. But ultimately she did because she shared much with them and looked at him her eyes taking him in quickly, that would be the place to start their names.
Now that you are here, what are your names? Proper introductions are important after all She said to them then as she said that watched their responses and was trying to decide how they answered. I am known as Brilliance. She said to the pair as she watched them waiting to see their response to the question asked of them. The first of a few that she had in mind.
He knew he was being sized up. After all, a unicorn couldn't just take any old unicorn to be their mate, let alone a Purity. So he stood perfectly still with his head up straight, like he'd been taught to stand when attending human courts, and he let himself be scrutinized. And he looked in turn. He sized up the Mercy, taking him in. A Mercy was a good competitor, especially for the heart of a Purity. He was proud to stand beside one.
He turned his attention next to Brilliance, truly taking her in. She looked like someone who could do whatever she put her mind to. That was good, that was something that was admirable. He lifted his head more when she spoke, asking for their names.
He... had already introduced himself but there was no harm in doing it again. Or perhaps it was a way to make sure the Mercy introduced himself as well? He was unsure, but surely she had a plan, a reason for the questions she was choosing. He switched his tail from side to side for a moment, waiting, and then bowed his head and his knee once more to her.
This one is called Jun, with the character for monarch. I am much pleased to meet you, Lady Brilliance. It is my honor to stand before you.
When another suitor arrived, a rather posh looking Nobility, Fate dipped his head in polite greeting but stayed silent- waiting for the reason they were both present to speak before he would again.
Fate is my name. It is a pleasure to meet you, Brilliance. The Mercy responded, dipping his head once again. He sounded not as proper as the other male, perhaps, but he hoped that the similarities in their life purposes would give him an edge with the Purity, though his lower rank was certainly a possible difficulty. The pure black fur across his flank twitched a bit as he adjusted his footing to stand more steady, awaiting the next question she would have for the pair.
He was a bit surprised at the lack of suitors, to be honest, but he hoped that one of them would be suitable for her choice.
Well met the both of you, first there will be four questions presented to the both of you. Your answers will decide which of you is my mate. Brilliance said as she looked between them telling them what was to come next, then she lowered her head to nip off an annoying bug but it flew away quickly before her gaze returned to the pair. She wanted the best suitor to be the one to win her heart and to father her foals, these would be her first foals after all.
The first question is this, if a dragon were to attack while I was away and you were left to tend the foals what would you do? She asked her eyes going between them, it was clear she was judging them for both their answers and for the way they reacted to each other and her. She wanted only the best to be the one to give her what she was here for.
Jun turned his head as Fate introduced himself as well, and he dipped his head in greeting to him as well. His ears flicked from side to side, swiveling about as he waited for further instructions. Brilliance was quick to give them those instructions and he bobbed his head in understanding.
Questions. A fitting way to pick. One must be eloquent after all, but also possess the ability to back up their words. It would do not good to say things he did not mean. And so he listened, and he thought carefully. He canted his head and shook himself off again, shifting his weight as he gazed somewhere over her shoulder.
My initial response, of course, is to protect the foals, even at the cost of my own life. But what good could come of that? If I die in the line of battle, the foals are still at risk and have no one to protect them. I would do better to be craftier than the dragon. I am no true warrior, but if there were a plan of action already in place, a plan where the foals knew where to hide so that I might lead the dragon to another that could help me slay it and rest easy in knowing they were safe until your return, then that would be the best option. It would require much forethought, but that, fortunately, is one of my strengths. He nodded again when he was done. It simply made the most sense. He could not still the heart of a dragon with his powers, but he knew tactics, and he could use those to his advantage.
Fate listened intently to the question presented to them and nodded slightly, thinking hard about what the best and most true course of action was that he would take. Listening to the other males response, he shook his mane slightly as he patiently waited for his turn to speak. The others response seemed suited to the male, however different it was from his own.
Presumably if I were left to tend to the foals, that means others would be at the front warding of the dragon, however they seemed fit.. Therefore, I would first do my best to find a suitable hiding place to prevent any harm coming to the little ones. My abilities let me calm their fear and give them comfort in what would be a frightening time, and I would hope to not only do that but perhaps distract them- perhaps with a story, or other such things. He spoke, shifting his weight from one hoof to the other, watching Brilliance in hope that his answer was suitable.
Brilliance nodded as she took in the answers of both males, they have been giving proper answers then she looked around at the scenery and that sparked her next question this one was more in line with their empathy. If you were to come upon a battlefield and there were wounded soldiers, enemy and ally alike what would you do? She asked her gaze going to the Lord first then to the Mercy whom she hoped would help the soldiers first before doing anything else but she knew that not all were the same.
Jun listened carefully to Fate's answer. It was a good one, well suited for a Mercy. He hadn't considered others already being at the front lines, although it would make sense. Perhaps he should pick this Mercy's brain later for more tactics that escaped him. But for now the important thing was what Brilliance thought. She gave nothing away and he, in turn, stood still as to not belie his quiet nerves.
There were several ways to take her next question. He could leave the enemy to fend for themselves so that he could focus on his allies. He could send others to care for their allies and dispatch the enemies. He could take them captive. It would really depend on the battle, on what was being fought and what was at stake. He dipped his head down and used his foreleg to scratch his cheek.
Forgive me for saying so, but this is a complicated question with many parts contingent on what the battle was for. But simplifying it into 'there are wounded, what do you do' can make it a bit easier. I would call for help for both sides. What is our enemy but a mirror that stares back on us after all? All of the soldiers deserve to be looked after, and if they are wounded with no help being presented to them already, then they were left for dead by their men, or everyone else is already dead and gone. If I were truly worried over the enemy soldiers, perhaps I would assign others to watch them, to be sure they wouldn't do anything untoward while we show them kindness. But calling for medics would first and foremost be my move. He cocked his back leg and watched, waiting to see how Fate responded to the question.
Thinking upon the next answer slowly before forming his answer, Fate waited patiently while the Nobility answered first. Fate was sometimes considered 'slow moving', but he preferred to think of it as being careful and thoughtful of his words. Once there was silence, he nodded before answering.
Seeing as how I would be one of the ones called upon to bring comfort to those who were injured- if that be from my knowledge of healing and being able to direct others more suited to it, easing their fears.. or if nothing could be done, ending their pain. He paused at the last part, shaking his mane slightly. Both allies and enemy alike. Nobody deserves to suffer needlessly.
Adjusting her weight she did not even really move from her considerations, she was doing her best to remain even tempered and not give away her thoughts. Both were giving good answers but there was something that would give them an edge depending on the answer and what would come of the mating and bonding. The next was about the ceremony of bonding and if they would attend should they be chosen, the final would be the one that she gave them to decide.
When the babies are old enough to Bond, will you attend the ceremony? I do want to be sure that you'll be there to see the little ones off after all. Brilliance asked as she looked at the pair of males before her.
Fate took little time to think of the answer for this question, it was an easy one for him and he hooved at the ground a bit with one foreleg.
This is a simple answer for me; I would most certainly attend the bonding. Not only would it be an important occasion in their life, but I would hope that my presence would calm the fears and worries of any in attendance and help promote a safe and easy bonding. It would be only proper for both parents to be present at the time of bonding; you must insure your lineage is properly taken care of.
Fate's answer was interesting. Befitting a Mercy as all of the answers had been before. It was a wise choice. Jun found himself nodding along, appreciating what Fate had said. After everything, he was certain if given the chance they would work well together.
His ears twitched as Brilliance spoke again and he focused back on her. This question made his ears fold back and he looked confused. This question was strange. He had never thought of not showing up. Were there sires who did that?
I, of course, would be there for the bonding. I was not aware that there were those who might not be. It's an important day in their lives, in our lives. It would not be right to not be there. Both parents should be there to help with the bonding process, and to tell everyone that it is okay if they do not wish to bond yet. I can't... I can't imagine not being there. He blinked and shifted his weight from hoof to hoof. A strange question, but he could understand it. It was an important question in the end.
