Snow lay thickly over the Village, providing ample locations for snowball fights, snowman building, and snow angels. While chilly the mood everywhere was light and merry.
So it was with more delight than concern that a rather large holiday tree was discovered in the center of the park surrounded by a decorative mock candy cane fence compete with gate. Wrapped in tinsel and colored lights and draped with ornaments, the tree hadn't been there that morning to anyone's memory. And more puzzling was the sign that was affixed to a candy cane by the gate:
A Gift from Me to You - Pick One! Below this announcement would be a picture of three specific ornaments that hung in various numbers on the tree: A Painted, Wooden Sleigh, A Copper Walnut, and A Coin.

Rules[\u] Only one Character per person. (Sorry, but really limited Shinies here!)
Shines may be present, but they won't be accompanying you on this little event.
Simply pick an Ornament. Please BOLD your selection.
There are a limited number of each kind of ornament. There are Eight Sleighs, Two Walnuts, and Three Coins. Please make sure your choice is available when you post, and I will try to keep a list below up to date.
Walking through the town, Nec couldn't remember noticing that tree yesterday. Huh, either someone had been busy last night or this was another thing from the IF. The sign on the candy cane gate didn't lessen that suspicion but this one seemed to be a good one, not the usual IF shenanigans!
Hmmm, 'pick one'. Curious about what might happen, Nec went through the gate and circled the tree before after some thought he took a walnut . It was a very pretty tree, all shiny and sparkly with lights and tinsel and all that belonged on a proper Christmas tree. Eventually he did exit though, givi g someone else a chance since there were bound to be others who wanted in. He'd stay around though, the bakery was near and selling warm tea and coffee and chocolate with cream after all!
People were nice, and she wasn't an outcast anymore. She had her little amiga with her, the little kitsune (at least, that's what she had called herself) that had attached herself to her side. As far as she could tell, the little creature was like many of the creatures in this Land, this Lands form of Alebrije.
But she hadn't wanted to come out today while Araceli performed-Too cold! she had said-and so Araceli had headed out to the park alone, bringing with her her violin today.
But, it seemed, she wouldn't be playing today. There was a tree in the park that definitely hadn't been there yesterday, large and decorated somewhat garishly, it wouldn't have looked out of place in The Land of the Dead. There was a sign, and she tilted her head as she read it (reading had never quite been her strong suit, honestly), before shrugging, approaching the tree. Walking around it, she finally stretched up to grab a coin ornament, distal bones clicking against the metal.
The weather had a bit of a nip to it, but Jeremi didn't mind as he watched his breath puff out. The overall mood was still jolly and relaxed. Or as jolly and relaxed as it usually got at the hospital. Winter tended to be a good time to come down with something and this place was no exception to his experiences. Given the illogical field, he suppose he should just be happy that something made sense. Even if it was just for a little while.
Walking through the park, the glistening Christmas tree caught his eye. He hadn't yet noticed Nec hanging out in the bakery (which may be a good thing or he might have suspected some trick), but he did notice the skeleton. Pausing for a second to study Araceli, he finally decided that she was mostly fine. Seemed to be moving fine on her own and he was still a bit too far away to really see any cracks in her bones that would bring him concern.
Jeremi moved closer to the tree, curiosity getting the best of him. The sign got raised eyebrows and he almost turned back the way he had come. He hadn't been here too terribly long, but even he knew that mysterious presents often spelled something eventful. Not always harmful, but you didn't know that before getting thrust feet first into whatever you set off from picking up that item. Though the pumpkin hadn't been that bad...
Shrugging, he would reach out to take a copper walnut. It was adorable and if nothing happened, he could at least take it home to hang up on his own tree. It was just as his fingers brushed the surface, he caught sight of Necthan and nearly started. Well, if this was a trap, it was too late now. He just hoped it didn't involve a bucket of ice water to the face.
Rune had been keeping busy and exploring the world to gain comfort. Especially since there was no set rule to the world, the IF did what it wanted after all. The snow was a welcome familiarity and had Fredericke in high spirits. Maybe that was what had drawn him to the square. Or maybe it was his lone little Athid that kept seeming to want to head here. So he came up to the tree, looking at it calmly. His hands he swore were in his pockets had reached up to touch the sleigh ornament near him. The red painted wooden ornament made him think of one he had made for his nephew when he was little. Granted his skill was lackluster at that time for painting so the gold accents on this one were indeed neater.
Gabriel sighed as he was getting used to this new place as he went into this new area he looked around finally he saw that there was ornaments on display and he he grinned to himself. He didn't waste any time as he walked to a coin and picked it up a gentleness to his eyes as he did so and he wanted to be sure that he got something at least as he wanted to be part of whatever this event was. He was still fairly new here, he didn't like having to deal with that fact that he wasn't somewhere familiar.
Yes, Nec's first holiday on Teragaia was already showing to be an interesting one! But he'd have to wait on the warm drinks and goodies front the bakery, however, as the instant he removed the first walnut ornament front the tree he'd blink and find himself in a different, foreign kitchen entirely!
He wouldn't be alone as in the room with him would be a dainty Archon Starmane, the little yellow pony-sized equine flitting this way and that as she prepared to decorate a rather grand three-tier cake. A plum-purple fairy image quite laterally glittering on her flank, she suddenly catch sight of the Changeling and with a musical neigh of delight trotted up to him with an icing bag carefully held in her mouth. The invitation was clear; she wants you to help her turn the cake into a festive centerpiece!
((Tell me how you'd decorate the cake! Consider that the kitchen has anything and everything that you might want to use in infinite supply, and the Starmane is more than willing to help.))

Araceli
Perhaps as a new arrival the sensation of suddenly being not where she'd been just a moment ago would be more familiar to Araceli than it might have been to others.
Or still just weird, whichever.
Regardless the moment she touched the coin ornament everything would turn black and she'd have the sensation of being moved somewhere else. It would stop in short order, but even before vision returned other senses would be telling her things:
The sounds of a posada procession and song.
The scents of red posole, ponche, and [/i]bunuelos.[/i]
The feeling of being wrapped in grand clothing for a holiday party.
And when she was able to see again she would find herself in familiar, if far old, surroundings. It would be a scene from her past, though how far past only she would know, playing out all around her like a movie in 3D. She might even see herself, albeit at a different stage of life (or afterlife as it were). She might even see herself! No one would seem able to see her or hear her, save for the one creature at her side: a frosty-blue Hippogryph with a glittery yellow and orange candle on her hips.
Tell me what you see? she asked with a soft, kind smile. What does this mean to you?
((Describe where Araceli is and what's going on. This should be something from her past, a memory she's experiencing as she was in that time.))

Jeremi
It was probably a good thing that Jeremi wasn't quite put out by the chill in the air, because he was certainly in for more! But not from a bucket of water or anything of the Changeling's doing.
It would seem like the snow suddenly picked up in a gust of wind, whirling around him and forcing him to close his eyes.
When he opened them again the healer would find himself in the middle of a rich, snow-blanketed evergreen forest. It would be a rather beautiful place, like something from a holiday fairytale.
Standing before him would be a creature that might have sprung from one such tale, actually: a Deva Starmane, about half grown and standing a bit stiffly, as if uncertain. He shook his neck and mane a bit, shivering some snow from his jade pelt and in the process causing light to glimmer off of a yellow-gold glittery crown on his hips, then nodded his head towards the forest path ahead in clear invitation.
((Describe the walk with the Starmane. Whatever happens is up to you!))
******************************
Rune
Touching the sleigh ornament would actually change nothing of the surroundings for Rune, unlike the others. He would still be standing by the tree, with everyone mingling and lingering in the festive area.
Fwip! Poof!
From out of seemingly nowhere a snowball would detonate into powder against the back of one shoulder. A merry laugh would follow and a pure white Pixi Nadur with quite literal glittery blue streams trailing all over her body would prance and dance by at a quick pace.
Hehehe, can't catch me! Let's play! She would promptly dart away, beckoning him to join in her game.
((Would you like to play, Rune? She certainly hopes so! Just tell me what happens, if he joins in with the quick, darting Nadur.))

Gabriel
Well, this certainly was a fine place for a newcomer to meet some soon-to-be friends and get to know residents. As he selected the coin ornament he would find himself whisked to yet another perfect location to make friends: a holiday party! At a glance it was being held in the Weyr in the meal hall, which meant there was plenty of room for everyone to mingle, nibble on all the goodies, and even a space to dance to the Harper's music. Decorations would be on every wall, table, even along the walls on the floor and of course hanging from the ceiling. There were so many people present from all walks of life and all worlds, both residents of the Weyr itself and Village having fun and chatting.
This looks like fun! The jovial voice would come from a South Hippogryph that was standing at his side. The lights of the room would make an evergreen glitter wreath on his hips and yellow mock 'fur collar' on his neck and shoulders sparkle festively. He looked over at the angel curiously, as if searching for something. I wonder...what do you see when you see this? Are you happy? Wanting to join in? Or perhaps not.
((Describe some things of the party, the celebrators, and how you would answer the question posed. Also have some fun! Enjoy the party as you see fit. Feel free to use any of my characters as NPCs for your post.))
Jeremi suppose he should be grateful that it wasn't cold water splashing him in the face. Though the blowing snow could be just as bad as he screwed up his eyes and pulled his scarf over his head. But just as soon as it began, the swirling snow ended and Jeremi opened his eyes to see where he was this time.
Cause he just felt it in his bones that he was no longer in the park.
He was right of course as he caught sight of the forest now surrounding him and the skittish starman before him. It didn't take him too long to figure out that he was suppose to follow this colt somewhere. Where? He had no idea. Maybe it was back to the park. Maybe it was to some cottage. Maybe it was just to a clearing. Maybe it was one big circle. Who was Jeremi to refuse? It wasn't like the cold was a biting one, and creating memories was a simple as giving into a whim or two.
Feet would crunch through the snow as he followed the starmane's path. It didn't seem to be a trail or anything of that sort. More like the starmane seemed to go where he wanted too. A left here. A right there. Straight ahead. Not good with directions to begin with, it didn't take too long for Jeremi to become lost in the snowy forest. He had trust in the Deva though as he didn't know of any starmane that would be intentionally malicious.
The walk would be rather uneventful, right up Jeremi's alley. Pine cones were stacked up at the bases of trees in such a way that Jeremi thought they rather look like small houses. Despite that, the forest seemed oddly devoid of life. Or maybe Jeremi just had horrible timing. He could see tracks in the snow from squirrels and rabbits. Could faintly hear the song of birds as they darted about scavenging for food. But the only other sign of life he saw was the Starmane he was following.
Illogical field logic at work. Maybe? Jeremi would just shrug it off, sticking his hands in his pocket as he continued to walk. Nothing he could do about it now.
Nec jumped slightly at the sudden change of place, but he was at least getting used to the IF's antics now, (or as used to it you could get), so seeing just a kitchen and a horse wasn't his worst surprise.
Wait, not a horse. He'd seen these, they were... Startails? Starmanes! And this one wanted him to... Decorate a cake, oh boy.
Nec had never even thought of decorating a cake! He didn't cook, much less bake and everything he ate was bought or in one way or another cooked by someone else, hence cake decorating had not been a Thing He Did! Still, the Starmane seemed insistent so he obliged, if only to see in what way he might ruin a cake with an icing bag.
The icing was blue, a bright one, and easy to squirt out, so he started on the top to make some dots. Some would be bigger than others, not very even, but in the end each tier top was covered in them. Hmm, what went well with blue? It was winter so the shiny silver icing with that sparkly sprinkle might work? Yes, the walls got the silver and the raindow-sparkles was generously sprinkled on top of each of them. "I've never done this so don't bite me if I ruin anything please?
Everything appeared to be normal besides the pull he had felt to the ornament. Until snow dusted him. He expected to turn and see Fredericke as she did similar things to him. However it wasn't. He blinked watching the glittery ribbons swirl move easily with the being. It made him think of wonderful memories, the kids that had passed through his life and their smiles. A smile pulled at the corner of his mouth as he adjusted his shades more securely on his face. Then he would be off, chasing the nadur and suddenly glad he kept up with his workout routines. They would weave between people as they ran, his hand grasping for the other but avoiding the blue ribbons off the body. After all this was for fun and not to hurt them. Finally, with lungs burning for air and sides aching he would lose. Sitting down with a whumph he would close his eyes and breath. Laughter laced lightly in the ragged breaths.
Gabe looked around it was a new world so the celebration was new to him, he was used to fighting so celebrations were few and far between. As it was he was happy here and he looked at the Hippogryph when it spoke and smiled at him, "It's a celebration of some sort so of course I want to join in!" He said to him as he walked with him to go further in to see what was out there, when he saw the cookies were in the shape of firelizards and snowflakes he laughed.
"Humans must always have winged creatures as cookies mustn't they?" He asked playfully of the hippogryph as he began to wander around looking at the decorations and sights before him happy to be there and seeing what was going on.
'No!' The feeling of being moved was horrifically familiar, and she tried to fight it. She was still trying to get used to her new home, and she didn't want to leave her little amiga behind. There was a hope, if only a slight one, that she would end up back home, back in the Land of the Dead, but would that be better? Here, she didn't feel as though she would fall apart, as though any moment she would be Forgotten.
Her feet touched the ground, but she hardly noticed. A song rang in her ears, one she had heard over and over again, knew by heart, and as her vision returned she could see a posada procession, skeletons wrapped in costumes she had seen so many times traipsing passed, some with alebrijes beside them. Her throat, or what passed for one, felt tight, and despite that she couldn't salivate, the scents of red posole, ponche, and buñuelos had phantom saliva filling her mouth. She'd adored buñuelo in death, and non-alcoholic Ponche Navideño had been her favorite Feliz drink. There was close on her, close that certainly weren't her normal jeans and t-shirt, but she was too pre-occupied with taking everything in to really look.
A voice spoke, suddenly, and she startled, looking to see one of the creatures that she was growing used to, the 'weyrs' alebrijes, one of the ones that was part horse-part bird, speaking to her. When she spoke, it was fond, but tinged with sadness. "This... this was my last Las Posadas before I started being Forgotten and had to move into ShantyTown. Every year I'd play and sing the songs, but after that year everyone was so wary of me they wouldn't let me."
She smiled fondly. "I loved Las Posadas. The amistad, the cheer." and then, with a laugh, "The food! And this was one of the best."
Were certain other people present they could tell Nec Thad there were an abundance of ways to 'ruin' a cake with icing, but it still made it taste wonderful on the end!
The merry little Starmane voiced a light whinny at Nec's words, almost sounding like a giggle, as she nudged the sprinkles towards him.
Some times later the decorating was done and by the way she joyfully clipped her front hooves on the floor she fully approved of the confection's appearance! She leaned her head up against the Changeling's arm, gazing up at him adoringly, and the Bone was sealed!
They would both return too the tree, cake included. Perhaps Nec knew some people to share it with?

Araceli
The Hippogryph listened with sympathy and understanding in her eyes for the sadness in Araceli's voice. But the fond smile got a responding smile of her own, and her wings fluttered a bit against her sides.
You understand the value of the past, even when the memories are bittersweet. I look forward to making more memories with you.

Jeremi
Yes, the walk would be peaceful, and eventually maybe enjoyable even. That might seem to be the Starmane's intention as he would eventually come to walk more beside Jeremi than leading him. Sometimes he would pause as things simply to observe them, such as a tree laden with an almost lace-like pattern of icicles (okay, that had to be in IF's doing), or a small spring still trickling work frost along the edges. Occasionally the healer of the Weyr would even see some medicinal plants that the equine would pause to let him collect, should he be of a mind to.
Eventually, though, they would come to what seemed like the edge of the woodland and there would be the park and tree and all those gathered around (including a certain Changeling with a Starmane of his own and a cake!). The lordly-ranked Starmane would gently touch Jeremi's shoulder with his nose as if to say 'thank you for joining me' and just like that they would be Bonded.

Rune
Rune wouldn't be the only one laughing as the game wound to a close as the Nadur slid to a stop beside him, leaning against his side and panting, covered with snow and chilled but very happy by the sparkle in his eyes.
You're a lot of fun! I like you!

Gabriel
The South Hippogryph laughed at Gaberiel's response, lightly clipping his front hooves on the ground in a little dance.
Winged creatures and snow and trees and ornaments with even more icing than all the others combined! he replied happily, then nodded in seeming decision. Yes, I believe you understand the importance of enjoying the now. I'd be happy to make sure your present it the best it can be!
Bond! Let the Parties of Today Brighten the Winter Male Glitter South Hippogryph to Gabriel!
Certain playful souls will enjoy nearly any kind of game that comes to their mind. But when it comes to this specific Nadur there's only one trick to be had:
Fwip-splat!
Hurling a snowball (or a pillow or other soft item of its the wrong season for show) at friend and unexpecting stranger alike then bounding away with a merry laugh, calling out as she does so *can't catch me!* Oh she loves so much to run and frolic about, darting at speeds that only a few of her species can even come close to. She tends to bound when she runs giving the illusion that she flies, and certainly there is a bit of a gravity-defying nature in her hooves. She's a sweetheart, through and through, despite her mischief. Thankfully she also has a keen understanding of whom might enjoy playing along and who won't (and even should she be wrong she's so fast the affronted party will be hard-pressed to catch her!).
She's a three foot tall package of white fur and energy with sparkling evergreen eyes, ironically making her even harder to spot in her favorite season. One might lose her entirely aside from one little thing: her mutation, manifesting itself as swirls of glitter all along her body in various shades of blue from icy to deep. It almost looks like she's literally wind-marked!
***************************** A Sweet Little Kitchen Fairy Glitter Archon Starmane
Yum! What smells so fruity, sweet, and tasty? It's likely a goodie baked up by this Archon. She's quite a sweetheart, she is, and loves to make treats for friends and family with a particular skill for anything involving fruit. That's one of the mane reasons why she loves the holidays so with how much desserts are involved. At the first jingle of a sleigh bell she'll be in the kitchen merrily twirling from one station to another mixing, measuring, and decorating all the while singing carols in her lovely voice. If only she could really sing the scene would be complete, but if course Starmanes cannot even under the effect of an Aeon's kiss. If there's one thing she loves to do equally it's dance or watch ballet.
The size of a mini pony she's an adorable, butter-yellow bundle of sugary sweetness. As for those of her rank her lightstrands and stars are pale yellow, a few shades lighter than her body, and match her mane and tail in hue. She continually gives of the glow of her rank - useful for finding jyst the right pan in a day cupboard! - but there is something that sets her apart: on her right shoulder is the manifestation of her mutation, a fairy in bright plum-colored glitter! ************************** Nobility Sits Stiffly on the Prince's Head Glitter Deva Starmane
Oftentimes when one is born into the rank of the lords there are certain expectations, both in how you behave towards others and in what's expected of you to accomplish or be able to do. Some accept this mantle with grace and ease.
Others...not so much.
To be fair, he's a young Deva, not fully grown into the confidence and pride that is his birthright. He tries to lead but struggles with the commanding presence others possess, and in trying to put forth a princely demeanor often comes across as overly formal and stiff. But he has his rank's fondness for celebrating others in spades! He'd be the first to declare 'you can do it!' if he could speak, and does his best to communicate so with soft neighs and stamping his hooves. He never seems more comfortable in his own hide than when he's beaming in pride for others. Maybe with done encouragement of his own he'll learn how to bring that comfort and assurance into all areas of life. Maybe a few walnuts, his favorite food, before an event will help?
Like the Deva rank he cuts a stately figure even not quite full grown. His pelt is a rich jade green with cream socks on both hind legs and a cream blaze down his muzzle nicely offsetting his milk-white and mint strands and stars. He has a tendency to manifest his eight wings when he's nervous or trying to be impressive. His walking is a bit stiff, however, due to a foalhood sickness that's left the joints in his knees tight. Even among a whole crowd of Devas he's one you can pick as a glitter mutation has manifested in the form of a royal purple crown on his hips. ********************** Memories are Born in the Golden Past Female Glitter East Hippogryph
Mindspeech: Italics #f6587b
Sometimes the hurts life brings are not the sort that can be mended by bandages and poltices. The past and memories can cause great hurt either because of remembered wrongs or because the good is forgotten. While the painful moments can impart valuable life lessons one should never let them overshadow the bright, happy moments or you risk becoming a real grump!
Soft-spoken and gentle, this East Hippogryph, youngest of the three Glitter Hippogryph siblings, is one who likes to remind others of the good things that have happened when they are sad. She highlights the joy of the past, times had with friends and celebrations shared to bolster the heart against painful memories and to remind that as there was happiness in the past so too can there be happiness in the now if you only let yourself find it. Sometimes her intentions are taken as dismissive, or simply fail, but that never stops her from trying as many times as it takes to get through.
If all else fails, though, she'll call upon her big brother, Let the Parties of Today Brighten the Winter Male Glitter South Hippogryph, to help with matters!
She's primarily a pretty, frosty blue all over with a few green spots that look suspiciously like holly leaves across her neck and shoulders like they fell down upon her and stuck there. Otherwise unmarked, she carries a glitter mutation in the form of a brilliant yellow-gold candle with an orange flame on her hips. ********************************* Let the Parties of Today Brighten the Winter Male Glitter South Hippogryph
Mindspeech: Bold #096209
To say that celebrations are a part of the holiday season is like saying the desert is hot. It's just a given, and the part that this rather energetic Hippogryph, middle offspring of the three Glitter Hippogryph siblings, supports. Celebrate the now, live in the moment! Enjoy each second as it comes to its absolute fullest because that second is one that will never come by again the exact same way. To those that might not quite be able to fully grasp how important such celebrations are he's more than happy to educate them, usually by sharing his own enjoyment and getting them to join in our at least watch others having fun. He's also often teamed up with his sister, Memories are Born in the Golden Past Female Glitter East Hippogryph, to help sometime find their holiday spirit but when even he can't reach them they call their elder brother, Heed Past and Present Joys Lest Your Heart Become a Tomb Male Glitter Night Hippogryph, as a last resort.
Just as emotional as South Hippogryphs are known to be he strays a bit more into the joyous region of emotion unless someone outright insults a celebration or someone's right to enjoy it in which case he's explode like a firework! To be sure if you're planning a party this who you'll want to help plan it.
One might think of the merry flames of the Yule log at the sight of him; certainly he is fire sprung from the hearth. His body is slightly varying shades of red with slightly lighter plumage and mane that are tipped with yellow. By contrast his eyes show a surprising emerald shade, a bit of an oddity for his rank though that might just be another mark of his glitter mutation as on his hips shimmers a green holly wreath, a yellow band with indistinct edges circles his neck and shoulders like a mock fur collar, and in his mane and feathers are orange flecks like sparking embers. ****************************************
Araceli turned to look at the Hippogryph as the Land of the Dead faded away, the sounds, the smells, the sights, disappearing, until they were left in the Weyr again, the young Nearly Forgotten once more in her rags, the holiday far more humble.
'You understand the value of the past, even when the memories are bittersweet. I look forward to making more memories with you.'
The skeleton smiled, reaching out to thread her fingers through the East's blue feathers, humming, "And same to you, Curación. We'll have a good long time together, for sure!"
