Happy March everyone! Already one quarter into the new year, yikes! Crazy how time flies! Well, lots of new things around on site, so let's get to it with some more business like things.
Dull stuff first, right? Right!
Sundered Weyr as a site is continually flowing, growing, becoming stronger. So it is only natural that when things come to light that need to be clarified, altered, added, done away with, or in any way changed the Admin Team springs into action to examine the topic at hand and make a decision. Examples of this are the decision to increase the Bonding and Adventure posting from two weeks to once a month and the Auto BP Awarding system.
A few more things have come to our attention, mostly to do with how things are formatted on the site in terms of Bondings and Creature Creation, and in how Bondings are hosted. Mostly I am speaking to clarifications of things we though were evident but in looking closer we realized were in fact not. So the rules pertaining to Hosting a Bonding have been updated for clarity, as well as a Bonding Format Example posted in the Resources.
A template for Creature Creation had also been added to the Resources, and links for both have been added to the side bar to make them easy to find.
These formats are to assist the Admins in ensuring that all rules are being followed for both Bondings and that everything a Creature needs, especially things pertaining to their rank and species identifying traits, are present as well as making things easy for everyone to find information in a description.
In the Sidebar is also a link to a Bonding and RP Completion Thread. When RPs, Bondings, and Adventures are completed I would appreciate it if the Host would post a link there, tagging me (Kay aka Raferties), so I can award all extraneous BPs and double check to make sure all Mobile Posts are properly rewarded.
As was stated when the Auto BP system was implemented the 3:1 ratio was a trial on the system, seeing how it worked. After evaluating it, we have decided to lower it to a 1:1 ratio to try and help control the influx of BP. This is to prevent us from having to raise the cost of creatures in the Shrine and items in the Shops to keep things balanced. This new ratio will be run through another evaluation period to see if it works better for Sundered Weyr. If this is found to be too low, then a 2:1 ratio will be tested. No BP will be altered for anyone; you fairly earned it!
Awards for Bondings are also being altered from BP to SC, though the amounts will stay the same. In other words a Short Bonding will aware 5 SC+1 per PC participating and ½ for each NPC participating rounding down, and Long will be awarded 10SC+1 per Character participating and ½ for each NPC participating rounding down. It came to our attention that accumulating BP was simple, but the avenues for Shop Coins was by comparison rather limited. (Don't worry – we'll do the math!) Any Bondings that were started before March 1st will abide by the old rules, as that's the ones that they were begun under.
As the above might have indicated, NPCs are now Permitted to Bond (yay!!!) with some regulations to distinguish them from PCs as well as prevent any abuse against the Post Requirement for new characters.
There are also impending changes to certain creatures in the database in the near future, nothing that should seriously alter any current creatures but that will hopefully make information about them easier to process and creatures easier to make. With any luck, new creatures will also be making their way to the Database within the next few weeks as well!
Ok, all the serious done! Got that out of the way, so on to fun!
A new Shop has opened alongside Kalatis' Rare Relics: Asphirs Worldy Wonders. Whereas Rare Relics has items to alter our enhance your creatures, Worldly Wonders has items for your characters that might come into play in more RP scenarios, like adventures, events, and Bondings. Asphir, the proprietor, accepts the same currency as Kalatis in the same manner, so go check out what he has in stock!
The Adoption Center is being given new life! It will be taking up the function of the Wilded Shinies Thread from the old site, so if you are hosting a Bonding and some creatures just don't find their special someone, you can post their descriptions there under their species thread for others to view and adore and maybe even claim as their own! It's not quite fully up and running yet, but it will be by mid-March!
A Tagging function has been uncovered on Proboards, permitting you to TAG others in threads! It can be tricky, so the best way to use it is in the full reply screen to look for the @ with a person, click that, and type in the person's name you're tagging. If you even get part of it right then person's name and avatar will apear, click them, and bingo! They're tagged! (Seriously, for some reason I'm "Raferties" instead of "@raferties". Weird!) So far this will only tag individuals, though I will be looking into its full functionality in the coming days.
With events for approaching holidays being discussed, after a busy month the ones to follow look at be full of excitement as well. We hope you'll be there to join us!

- NPCs may only Bond creatures of 3 Star or lower, except in the case of Dragons because there are always more candidates on the sands than just PCs.
- NPC Bondeds have a much more abbreviated Description than a PCs, typically consisting of a Fade, Mindspeech if applicable, a few descriptive adjectives and a bit on any noteworthy physical traits. You can find an example here in the Resources section.
