The Calm, The Mad, And The Silly Hydra Blue Mottle

One, two, three... Yes, there are far too many heads for this to be a normal fire lizard, and they're all different colors as well. The head in the middle is black, with jagged teeth parted in what could be a smile or a snarl, and red eyes whirling with amusement or perhaps playfulness. The black head, while not being the most mentally stable of the bunch, is definitely the most random; he's just as prone to dancing or squawking out a song as he is to bite someone's fingers off. He's the only one capable of serving as the mediator between the left and right heads though, as they're usually bickering. The head on the right seems to belong to a blue mottle, hardworking and rationally-minded albeit somewhat of a deadpan snarker since he rarely lets his emotions get the better of him. Head over heart, as they say. The head on the left, however, seems to belong to a red mottle whom is far less restrained than other red mottle flits, but considering he has to deal with two other heads that might not be a surprise. The red head is, of course, hotheaded and prone to snapping at the blue head when he gets angry, but at the end of the day all three heads will settle in to sleep with both blue and red draping themselves over the black middle head as though to protect him.

Motherhood is More Than Laying Eggs Brown Mottle Female

Name: Kirish

The standard behavior of a female mottle, dragon, wher, or firelizard, is to leave her eggs somewhere random. A good nesting site, to be sure, but somewhere she’ll forget shortly after laying the final egg, after which she’ll mosey off and continue on her merry way doing whatever it was she was doing, whether that was being wild or being bonded. Kirish, on the other hand, is an outlier. Once she lays a nest, she sticks by it, defending her eggs from predators, the elements, whatever unsavory forces might be detrimental to the development of her young. What’s more, when they’re almost ready to hatch, she gathers food for her babies, fish and unlucky small birds, things easily torn into flit-let snacks. She doesn’t just sing them their first birthing song, she makes sure they have food to eat and a safe place to get the hang of having wings. Because that’s what a mother does. And Kirish does it without the help of a fair, unlike the queen golds who would claim an equal level of devotion – queens get help with their young, blues and browns and bronzes to do the hunting and the fighting! Well, that used to be true. More recently, Kirish has had the help of a devoted son who would never leave his mother without someone to rely on, but Emlyn wasn’t always in the picture.

Her relationship with Dominic is an odd one. Of course, the young zombie needs a mom! And if Kirish could speak, we’re sure her various maternal cheeps, croons, and various other vocalizations would contain sound motherly advice, maybe the occasional admonition if Dominic’s gotten himself into trouble or is associating with someone (or something, this is Teragaia) that is maybe morally shady. On the other hand, Kirish works herself to the bone taking care of everyone but herself. She’s going to need Dominic to remind her every so often to take it easy, to maybe EAT something she catches instead of feeding literally everyone else, take a break and get some water every now and then. Sometimes it’s up to the child to take care of the mother, remind mom that hey, we love you too, and here’s a little return on all that sacrifice.

Kirish is simultaneously small for her rank and big-boned, broad across the chest, wide-necked, stocky, perfectly built for aerial combat and hunting. And does she ever have the scars to prove it! Her moss agate wings are slightly tattered, her blunt cinnamon head has claw scars over one eye, the trickle of black over her spine is interrupted by the talon marks of something larger, maybe a bird that possibly tried to take her away from her nest. One of the tips of her tail is shorter than the other, like something bit one of the tips off. But as battered as her little body is, Kirish has never, in her history as a mother, lost an egg to a predator, and she’s damn proud of that.

Mama's Boy Is Not The Insult You Think It Is Brown

Name: Emlyn

Dominic is actually Emlyn’s second Impression, firelizards are a little flexible that way. Emlyn’s first Impression, first bond, first soul-deep loyalty, was to his mother, Kirish. Kirish stood guard over Emlyn’s egg from the day she laid it to the day Emlyn hatched, she fought off every predator that made a play for Emlyn and his clutchmates, she made sure her babies were well fed and well sheltered when they hatched, and they came into the world to the sound of their mother singing them the firelizard welcoming song. Emlyn, an odd duck pedigree in a mottle nest, latched onto that voice and never let go. He grew up at his mother’s side, learned from her how to hunt, how to fly, how to flame (although she was a little lost about his need for firestone, admittedly). He learned how to be a predator, and he learned what would be a predator to an unwary firelizard. Above all, though, he learned to be a good son, and a good brother, when the next clutch came around, and the next after that, and he helped his mother protect her nests, and feed her young, and sing the welcoming song at hatching.

Emlyn has Impressed on Dominic, yes, but he’s still incredibly loyal to Kirish, which makes it very convenient that she has also Impressed on Dominic. Like most browns, Emlyn is a steady, reliable creature, very level-headed and mature in how he handles things. He never goes looking for a fight, but he’ll finish any fight that comes looking for him. He learned that one from his mother, and he’s proud of that. What, you thought “Mama’s boy” was an insult? Puh-lease. He’s the kind of son that not only isn’t shy about loving his mom, he’s proud to be seen in public with her. Any chance he gets to show her off to the world and say ”That’s my mom!”, he will take it. She sacrificed a lot to bring him into the world, why should he not be impressed with her and make sure everyone else is too? Don’t you love your mother?

This sturdy brown is a little large for his rank, as big-boned as his mother and broad in the chest, though his neck isn’t quite as wide. He’s a rich semi-dark chocolate color all over that deepens to dark chocolate along his back and spine. He doesn’t have as many battle scars as his mother, but he has a few, namely claw marks raked across his chest and some kind of slash scar over his left hip.

The Walls Will Not Break Ember Male Phoenix

Life is a dangerous entity. It can throw rockslides, floods, rain, people, and even objects at you. All in an effort to break you down into nothing. Tearing you apart, piece by piece or in whole chunks as it suits itself. But you, Dominic, have the lovely luck of having this Ember by your side to see through it all. Like many others of his rank, he is a great listener and will sit through any story or complaint you have. No matter how long it may take to get out, he will wait patiently for you to tell him everything. He will be your rock in the wind. Your shelter in the storm. He will be the dam you need when the flood of life tries to sweep you away. He will not break. He will not let you break. No matter how long it takes, he will make sure that life does not break you down, but only builds you up.

Small, coming just shy of about a foot and a half in height, he isn't exactly a force to be reckon with. But his diminutive statue does allow him to ride very comfortably on your shoulder so he can be with you whenever you need. A dark, ash grey coats just about his entire body till you get to the speckling of red and oranges along his wings and his belly. His talons and beak are a nice shiny black, catching the light from the edges of his wings just right.

The Most Dangerous of all is an Angry Mother Canine Female Hybrid

The saying goes that hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Well, some might argue that the saying should be: 'hell hath no fury like a mother protecting her young!' When asked for proof of their claims, they only need to point to this hybrid, for she is wrath incarnate when those she percieves as 'hers' are in any sort of peril, real or imagined or blown out of proportion. It is a strange harmony of her bloodlines, really. One half of her parentage was a Breeder Hellhound, and the other a Fire Kitsune, so she inherited the instinctive maternal nature of the former with the ingrained tendency to lash out at those that wrong not only her but those around her from the latter. While she is more than willing to take up the cause of the downtrodden and the slighted, nothing kicks off her rage when her 'kits' (namely, her Bonded, those creatures she shares a Bonded with, and any family her Bonded has) are in peril. Whether her kit is in fact a dragon, a unicorn, an athid, or a person, they are her kits in her eyes and deserving of her protection, and against her targets her retribution is brutal and never quite comes in the manner than they believe it will, or when. . Hell hath no fury indeed!

In body shape she is more sleek than a typical hellhound, more fox-like in terms of her delicate-looking legs and slender torso for all that her fur is pitch black. She has a single foxy tail, though it is a bit rougher-furred than a Kitsune's fluffy tail, and it is much thinner overall. The kanji for 'fire' burns upon her brow, inked there in crimson color, Her dark pelt makes her ruby red eyes stand out even more, and deep in their depths lurk flames.

Twin brother to Bounty of Life, this male Zaithand is a rather peaceful individual, as serene and calm as smooth water as his sister is generous. Little causes waves in his demeanor, no matter how unexpected or alarming they may be. Everything to him is simply "the way things are" and they might or might not be the same in the next moment. He'll take necessary steps to correct any problems that he believes he can - he's not insensitive or cruel - but he simply doesn't let things get to him either. Very zen, this Zaithand. What will be, will be, and why worry?

Like his sister, he is primarily a nice cinnamon red-brown color. Opposite her, however, is how the right side of his body is golden in hue, the line between the halves rippled like waves in the water, and around his left eye is a gold patch. The right side of his back fin is gold, the left side red-brown. His left eye is blue, and his right eye is green.

Biographer, Bandager, Bodyguard, Brother, Boswell Male Guardian Gargoyle

Gargoyles are known to be protective creatures. It's in their very nature, they purpose and drive. Once they choose their special charge threats should think twice before challenging them, even the smallest of their kind.

This gargoyle is of that Guardian rank, though due to a mutation he stands considerably taller than his fellows. He is just as protective over his Bonded as any Gargoyle and not just against dangers. He takes his caregiving into every aspect of life. He taught himself medicine through reading and at the elbow of other healers so that he can mend your wounds. He will make sure you eat and sleep as best he can. If you fall into a black depression he will try to entice you with favored pastimes to break it. He tries to help you quit those dangerous or even deadly bad habits (like drugs or self-harm) that you may fall victim to and of those less-deadly (like drinking or smoking) he advises moderation, ever watchful for adverse effects or over-indulgence. And if danger threatens he's more than willing to become your physical shield even at cost to himself.

Aside from this he's a gentle and kind-hearted creature, with a hard-to-rouse temper and forgiving of quite a bit of wrongs done to him personally. He has something of a pawky sense of humor, so if you're the kind to give some friendly jabs his direction expect the same in kind often when you least expect it, or for him to play at being irritated at you in jest simply to make you smile much as a brother might. His favorite casual pastime to relax with is either reading adventure stories or writing down the adventures that you and he share. Pardon any 'romanticism' he may insert to make it more thrilling.

As mentioned he's a tall Gargoyle. Where most of his rank stand between two and four feet tall he's far closer to six feet in height, but that is where the differences end. He still has the same short little stubs horns on his forehead and leaf-shaped bat noses and lack of wings. He is a smooth, light gray all over save for a white, starburst-like 'scar' on his right leg from an old injury. His topaz-golden eyes are quick to both evaluate your well-being and scout for danger.

Keeper of the Asclepius Male Watcher Gargoyle

At no time do people need protecting more than when they are ill, injured, and at their most vulnerable. What better calling than to be the one who stands watch over them and their caretakers? That was what Keeper dedicated his existence to for many years. He kept a quiet, secret watch over a simple rural doctor's practice for the man's entire career. But then he retired and moved to warmer climates, with no one left to take over. And sadly the gargoyle, not Bonded to the man, was left adrift…until he met a certain Mercy unicorn, who was out gathering needed medical herbs. As he also knew what they were for they started talking and when she returned to Haven Village and Weyr he followed her. He took up guardianship of whatever place of healing she happened to be at that day. They developed first a friendship, and then it grew to a warm romance. He watches over not only the place of healing but his beloved unicorn, escorting on her outdoor errands and perching nearby to windows where he can watch her while she served indoors. He's quiet, but dedicated, and as solid an individual as you can ever hope to meet.

Keeper, as Watcher Gargoyles typically do, has a humanoid-like form standing around six feet tall. He is a dark granite color with a few thing streaks and flecks of white, with sapphire-colored eyed. His forward-pointing horns are tipped with rubies and of late are often smeared with streaks of myrrh and adorned with chamomile leaves and petals as he helps with his beloved's herb gathering.

Many people flock to the beach to frolic and play, and through the waves they laughingly dart.

But others look at the ocean, stand on the beach, and see both serenity and peaceful reflection in the back and forth lap of the waves and the sounds they make.

It might come as a surprise that a creature of the air would have such a deep fondness for the ocean. But the same serenity and peace that she finds in flying the gentle currents of the air she finds echoed in the soft waves of the water. No matter how upset or rattled she is strolling along the place where the water and the sand meets, feeling her hooves sink delicately in, will calm her right back down. And she loves sharing that peacefulness with her family, her loved ones, more than anything. She will fly them there, any time of the day or night, so that they can take that walk together, enjoying one another's company and affection and in that find peace.

Those that look at her see a very beautiful equine. Her features are delicate, with slender legs and neck and a graceful head. Her pelt has a metallic, burnished brass hue with a sooty 'smear' down her face, down the side of her neck, and down all four legs that only makes the brassy color more vibrant. Her wings pick up this coloration with the top third carrying the soot color and the rest sharing the metallic shade. The dark black lines that form a cross to identify her rank almost blends in at her shoulders, just a shade darker. Her mane and tail are black, and her eyes deep brown.
