Keldos (Phoentics: Kehl-dohs, so much like it's spelled)
Inspiration Pic, just add a couple of wings
Known Titles: Firstborn of all Angels, Firstborn of the Archangels, Firstborn Firstborn, Solaris' High General, Fiendbane (of recent, 'Raferties' Big Brother')
Gender: Male
Race/Species: Angel, six winged (gold)
Age: 10,682 years, older than Raferties by two heartbeats.
Height: 6 5
Weight: around 199 lbs or so
Build: Visibly muscular and fit
Complexion: slight tan
Hair: Golden blond
Eyes: blue, sometimes called 'heart of the sky' blue
Other: (physical) Keldos has six wings, the Solarian mark of being an Archangel, all of which are golden with a few faint platinum tones, mostly in the underfeathers. His primary wings, the top pair, are the largest and strongest, and if all else fails he can fly by these alone. His secondary and tertiary wings (middle and lowest set respectively) are a bit smaller, folded beneath the primary pair when the wings are at rest, and should he lose flight with his primary wings he requires these two pairs to remain airborne. The underlayer of the secondary pair, however, show an different hue than the others; a crimson shade, sometimes visible when he stretches those wings out to full span. Should anyone ask about it, the Archangel will merely say that 'it is a mark of a lesson learned, one I hopefully will never have to repeat.'
Typical Attire: When Keldos is battle-ready, which is almost always when he is outside his home in the Weyr, he can be seen in his Solarian truesteel full plate. Keldos was clad in this gleaming gold and silver armor studded with sapphires on the chest and shoulders upon his creation, and he can will it away at a thought - which turns it into two cuffs high on his biceps - and back again. Like his brother's wrist cuffs, this is something he technically can never take off, a symbol of his bond to Solaris and his patron's encompassing dedication and loyalty to the Archangel. Beneath this and visible when he has the armor 'on standby,' Keldos wears a white tunic with gold embroidery on the hem and cuffs, white pants, and leather boots all of which are fit for a king- fitting as he carries himself much with the bearing of one as he believes his appearance is a direct reflection upon his god at all times. (thankfully, magic in his clothes keeps them from becoming stained or torn, otherwise wearing so much white would get to be a pain!)
Meaning of Titles:
When Solaris made his angels, Keldos was the first one of them all created (by all of a few heartbeats), so he is sometimes called 'Firstborn of All Angels.' This also makes him the first Archangel created, hence that title. Because he is both these things, sometimes other Solarians and followers of Solaris will simply shorten this to 'Firstborn Firstborn.' As Firstborn Archangel, Keldos is the Solarian's most powerful warrior and commands the Chorus when in battle as High General, though to his greatest foes, all manner of fiends and other truly evil from the hells, Keldos is 'Fiendbane' due to the Soul Pouch he wears on his belt. (See Abilities)
Personality:
When most people think of a holy warrior angel, they typically conjure a picture that might closely match Keldos. Powerfully built, tall and with a regal demeanor that makes him seem kingly even without his angelic nature so apparent, he is confident and courageous, able to stand toe-to-toe with the most fearsome foes and not waver, willing to fight to the bitter end and more often than not proving that end ot be of his enemies rather than himself or his causes. Sometimes viewed as more serious than his 'little brother' Raferties, Keldos merely holds himself to his position as Firstborn Firstborn very strictly, and takes his behavior and appearance as reflections on his god. Therefore he, when in public, must look and act his best at all times. However since reuniting with his the Lorekeeper and being away from the Chorus Keldos has learned that he can relax a little bit more and let the other side of his nature out - a side wiling to kick back, joke around, laugh and dance.
Keldos' primary function was to serve as the Chorus' Grand General, the leader of their combative element and the head of the Archangels, whom function as its captains. Due to this, Keldos is held in high respect and even some awe amongst his fellow angels, and some of the newer Guardians even hesitate to approach him. But he is closest to Valariel and Raferties, his fellow Firstborn, and will protect them with a particular fierceness (as well as any they hold dear, which means Belial and Kaya fall under this protection as well).
Despite his demeanor and bearing, despite being the leader of the angels and a terror to fiends, there is one thing that Keldos does show a strong soft spot towards: Redemption. Much earlier in his life, Keldos came perilously close to Falling (See Quirks) due to a poison inflicted in a battle with a demon, and came back from the brink at the very last moment after having done some pretty horrible things. He remembers much of this time (though he would love to forget it!) and thus when he learns of someone else seeking redemption he is likely to try and help them, give support and advice. He is also quick to accept an enemy's surrender if they profess sincere desire to repent of their deeds, but those who want to take advantage of this should be wary: he is good at ferreting out lies, and will not be taken in a second time.
Like all Solarians, Keldos is a part of what they refer to as the Chorus, a connecting grand Song that links all the angels to their god and to each other. Through it they know each others well-being, can communicate, and receive instruction and understanding from Solaris. Even though he is here and not in his home heavens, Keldos can go into a state of semi-rest, almost like dozing, and Commune with the Chorus. This is something of an essential thing for his well-being, as he uses this Communion to gain strength and rejuvenate himself much like a human would need sleep and food. His one regret is that his brother as of yet cannot reconnect to the Chorus, and is more than willing to play the part of message-carrier, relaying news back and forth so that at least Raferties will have that much. (and no, although to hear the Solarian tongue is much like singing, he nor any Solarian sings when they speaks unless they are actually singing)
Also in line with his angel siblings, Keldos is rather musically inclined, skillful with song and many instruments, as well as dancing. His greatest instrumental skill is with the guitar, which unlike Raferties he learned after his creation on an early whim. Used to he and Raferties would perform duets together both for their siblings and for each other, either playing their respective instruments or one playing and one singing, but it has been some time since they have done this (something that Tide is working on correcting).
Powers/Abilities:
Light: can turn himself into an angelic beacon, glowing with pale yellow light like a torch. Can be used as a light source, or as a display of angelic power and radiance.
Blinding Flash: More potent than just Light, he can cause the radiance to explode in a blinding burst all around him. Does no harm otherwise
Holy Fire: Keldos can sheathe his greatsword in hole fire, dealing greater harm to his foes when blows land.
Truesteel Blade: Keldos wields a mighty Greatsword forged of Truesteel, a blessed metal crafted in Solaris' realm. He was created with this weapon upon his back, formed from the same pure Will of Solaris that Keldos himself was, and so it is both his treasure and his sole weapon. It is powerful, able to cut through all but the most powerful of fiendish damage reduction and if broken can be repaired by a touch and an effort of will from Keldos. Only a grave, vile ritual can sunder the weapon forever, and what that is, ironically, is a secret locked behind Raferties' lips. Although technically a two-handed weapon, Keldos is capable of wielding it one-handed when he needs to.
Swift Healing: Like all Solarians, Keldos possesses an incredibly swift fast-healing and regeneration that in him is even more powerful. Most cuts and stabs heal over within a few minutes, scratches close as fast as they are made, and even were he stabbed in the heart were he able to pull away and defend himself for a few minutes the wound would close. Only wounds made by a fiend bite, claw, spine, magic, and the like or a weapon forged in the hells can negate this healing, making him endure the wound much as a mortal does. Perhaps has a balancing factor, even magical healing will not close such a wound.
Flight: Due to his having six wings, Keldos has perfect flight capabilities. He can fly straight up as well as horizontal, stop momentum dead and reverse his direction, turn on a dime and even perfectly hover, virtually motionless through the rhythm of his wingbeats. He also does not need all six sings to fly; only the top two are critically needed, though should they both be disabled he can somewhat manage with his secondary and tertiary wings. Being unable to use any of the sets, however, cuts down his maneuverability from perfect to good. Given this, though, it should come as no surprise that he is quite a capable aerial combatant and often fights as much in three dimensions as solely on the ground.
Soul Pouch: A long time back, Keldos endured a great trial. It's something that he rarely can be coaxed to talk about, and even just bringing it up can cause a shadow to cross his eyes. But from that he gained both a great honor and a powerful responsibility: the Soul Pouch. Always attached to his hip, this black velvet pouch is inlaid with gold, silver, and platinum-stitched runes, and to those sensitive to magic radiates powerful containment powers. When Keldos slays a creature of fiendish origin, they are not banished back to the hells from whence they came as usual. Instead they are transformed into a black gemstone that he places into the bag, to be held for all eternity or until the satchel is sundered. Should that ever happen, well, no one knows for certain quite what would occur. But there are sure to be quite a few furious fiends after the Firstborn if they were to ever escape.
True Voice: Like his fellow Solarians, Keldos has a powerful True Voice. His, perhaps a reflection of his warrior status, has two volumes. When he Speaks in a low tone, it has been likened to the growl of a distant storm threatening its violence but not yet arrived. But when raised to a Shout, it has to the power to rattle and even shatter windows, make evil mortals cower, drive back powerful fiends and even cause harm to weaker fiends.
Like Raferties, Keldos was also given a unique talent True Command. When he speaks, should he input his Will into his words, any Solarian who hears him MUST obey. His words and his will become Solaris' Will, as long as the order doesn't go directly against Solaris' tenants. On his original world he has even seen this bring a Fallen to his knees, though there was a struggle. This ability allows him to perfectly command his troops on the battlefield, as they will act exactly as he needs them to. Whether this would work on angels of other realms or not, he doesn't know as he's never tested it.
Resistances/Immunities
Keldos is a fully-connected Solarian of the Chorus, which gives him greater abilities than his brother.
Keldos is immune to poison, whether it is venom, toxin, or man-contrived. This means snakes can bite him, bees and wyvrens can sting him, and he can drink for a whole day straight without any ill effects. Only poisons specifically made to harm an angel, or that are produced by a fiendish creature (devil or demon) can cause him harm.
Likewise, Keldos cannot get sick. This also goes for most magical illnesses, such as mummy rot, lycanthropy, zombification, etc. He is vulnerable to certain vile diseases, ones that were specifically made to work against such holy warriors as he, but even should one of those try to take him his immune system will fight all but the worst off quickly.
Finally, Keldos technically does not need to eat, drink, or sleep, though he can do all these things should be choose to. He gets rest and sustenance from a daily Communions with the Chorus, a period when some might say he meditates and speaks with his siblings and his god.
Vulnerabilities:
Aside from being weak to Fiend attacks and hell-forged weapons, there is very little Keldos is vulnerable to, at least in the conventional sense. But he is an angel above all else, and the truly unscrupulous could use his willingness to self-sacrifice to protect the innocent against him.
Quirks:
Like most Solarians, Keldos has a very formal manner of speaking. He typically won't use contractions (barring IF interference), and when he speaks there is a sense that he is choosing his words carefully so that he says exactly what he means to say. He also will never, ever used the word 'Fall' in his dialogue. He will say that he 'stumbled,' 'had an unintentional meeting with the ground,' 'tripped,' or any other way to say the same thing, and even when speaking of other situations 'fall' will typically never be used. This is because to a Solarian to speak of a Fallen, noun, or say that an angel has Fallen (adjective), means that they have turned against Solaris and the Chorus, allowing their wings to blacken. When he does speak of his lost siblings, there is oftentimes a sharpness or pained tone to his voice, like even just saying it disturbs him greatly.
Keldos also will always speak the truth, in as much as he is aware in a particular situation. To lie is impossible for him as long as he knows that the words he would speak are a lie, and to this extent he is quite skilled at reading others to see if they are lying or even merely holding something back from him. This serves him well in battle as well as in social situation, despite his being unaccustomed to them.
