I Wear my Sunglasses at Night Male Event Horizon Astrum
Mindspeech: Bold ##9f10e3
Mysterious. Aloof. Collected. Far too calm for some of the things he sees. All but untouchable. Utterly cool. Just a few of the ways that one notable Astrum is described. With his ever-present sunglasses that somehow stay on no matter how he jumps, flies, or in other ways cats around he certainly makes an impression. Event Horizon have a reputation of being emotionless or at least nearly so and it's very true that even through the worst the IF can offer, through zombie assault and flood and fire, his voice never raises in alarm and he never loses that calm half smirk, half grin he wears. But when as a little kitten you predict what you think is the end of the world and live through it everything else gets held to that level of fear; it's hard for much to stack up. When he was barely larger than a handful, his eyes opened for scarcely a week, he had a vision of a terrible white flash in the depth of night, and everyone that looked upon it turned black like living shadows. He did his best to tell everyone what he'd seen, his family and his mother's Bonded who was wise enough to help. But when the night in question came and he lay huddled with his siblings in a shaking heap of kittens he heard one of his sisters coo in wonder at the glow. Realizing she'd lifted her head and their mother was not nearby, he leapt up and pounced upon her, forcing her head down.
But in the process he himself saw the light, and found out the truth of his vision: it wasn't that he would turn into a shadow. The world instead turned dark for him. The light blinded him.
Now mostly full grown he isn't bitter about that night. What at first was tragedy he turned into confidence. He's already felt paralyzing fear and acted so what do visions of falling balls of fire or red dragons raging hold for him? He still has his visions, quite clear ones even if they are often veiled in imagery. Perhaps his blindness, which doesn't hinder him any otherwise, has helped sharpened his Sight in turn. Maybe the light was a herald for his destiny. Maybe he's just so naturally cool that even the IF stands impressed and so offers him its favor. Whatever the case he can be trusted on to always be a steadying presence when everything unpleasant has hit the fan, plan in mind if not having warned everyone already.
A little over a foot long with a tail equal in length, his deep blue-black fur is sleek and silky smooth. From his right shoulder down along his side runs a vivid neon purple streak identifying his rank ever as some distance. The keen of eye can even still see it when he lights up his purple glow, it is so bright. He lacks wings as some Astrum do though he can still leap and fly about quite well, naturally. He is only rarely seen without his sunglasses, a gift from the sister he saved from sharing his fate. Should he ever have to have then removed such as to clean them he tends to keep his eyes closed. He long ago found out that his empty, unfocused stare and white-filmed eyes sometimes unnerved those around him.
We Can Figure This Out Together Puzzle Male Sphinx
We Can Figure This Out Together Puzzle Male Sphinx
Mind Speech: Italics #d98719
Puzzles sphinxes all have one thing in common much to the frustration of those that bond them and that is taking things apart. Machines. Garments. Actual puzzles. It seemed they only stop at bodies and that is probably more for moral reasons than any actual dampening of curiosity. (Though if they are nice enough in asking, they could probably sit in on some dissections and such). This Puzzle is no exception to that rule. He will gladly take apart your coffee pot, your washer machine, the couch, the door to the bathroom. Not even his own adornments are safe from a deconstructing put back together moment. The only thing that will separate him a bit from his Puzzle brethren is the fact that he will refuse to take anything apart by himself. He must have a partner in crime so to speak. For not only will he draw his own conclusions, he wants to hear other’s conclusions as well. Rather that is another companion of his bonded or his bonded themselves, he does not care. They just need to be as curious as he is and not say a million times what a bad idea it is to take apart Sandasa’s coffee pot. He is going to put it back together again and he wants to know how it makes so many cups of coffee and not explode.
His body is a deep, rich tan. Not quite a brown, but if he was any darker, it would certainly be in that territory. The tufts of hair is a light, almost blonde color and stands out against his main coloration. His rings, for the most part, are a vibrant red. The tip of his wings are where his other colors come in. From black to yellow to green, it is almost like he dipped them into some paint and forgot to wash it out. Wrist cuffs adorn all four limbs, each with different gems locked into place. Upon closer inspection, you can see where several of the prongs have been bent back to loosen the gems on cuffs. It is reasonable to assume that the gems in these cuffs often get shuffled around based on whatever color puzzle he has gotten ahold of and wanted to recreate in his cuffs. Especially when he comes bounding up to see if you can solve it, a happy grin on his face.
King of Fire and Ash Male Red Mottle Hope Giver Dragon Vorgath
Mindspeech: Bold Italics #f6a300
Every now and then a dragonette breaks shell on the sands that makes everyone wonder if somehow a truly Wild Dragon egg was placed there by mistake. But no, Vorgath's egg wasn't like a wild red's egg, and he was able to Mindspeak and go Between just like other Mottles, and finally he Impressed as well. But for all of this he displays his Wild heritage as only a few others do. A few observations might cross the mind when Vorgath is in the room: arrogance, terrifying cunning, violent temper, a condescending manner towards all but Percival, and the sheer physical power to back it up. His fiery breath weapon burns hot, his claws are capable of easily tearing through most metals, and his teeth rend flesh like it's nothing. His one redeeming quality is the unbreakable loyalty to Percival that is the background for much of his behavior. He is the best, has Impressed to the best, thus they deserve the best. The Golds might rule the Weyr (and as he is a Weyr dragon the Gold Purebloods can use their innate ability to compel compliance, though even they should do so with caution), but he will see it burn before he accepts a slight (actual or simply perceived) to either himself or his Rider or a loss of what he views as theirs. To this end he views eliding a rider's name lazy and n beneath him and refuses to do so when addressing his. Hopefully Percival can help keep Vorgath in line.
It's not just in personality that Vorgath so clearly resembles his Wild kin. He's a massive beast standing at sixty meters tall at the shoulder easily, not including his neck crest. It's far easier to say where he lacks the heavy crimson scales than where he has them; the inside of his legs and along the sides of his neck show smooth blood-red hide. His head is crowned with a Wild red's sweeping horns and juts of smaller horns frame his Weyr dragon faceted eyes and face, though he lacks the large plate on the tip of his nose. For all of this ruby brilliance Vorgath bears a single off-mark, a mutation manifesting as a pink loop folding around his left wing joint with the ends laying beneath. He's oddly proud of his rare mutation.
Oh Ley Oh Lai is a Harper at heart. Never is this Dust more happy than when listening to music or when awakening to song. And should her memory fail to provide her with a melody thenshe's more than capable of making it up, even on the fly! This talent comes out on her Mindspeech; she often rhymes or Mindspeaks in sing-song tones. Thankfully for those around her she's a good singer and even beat boxer when the need requires and even dancer in her own way, prancing to the beat of her melodies. Owing to her Harpering tendencies she's a friendly sort and a good listener, a welcome presence at gatherings and parties and ever with ear perked for a story to turn into a song.
Oh Ley Oh Lai is a fluffy puppy! In build she resembles a Estrela Mountain dog, more than a wolf or fox, complete with the varying coat colors that drift from a brown that's almost black to a rich golden brown which compliments not only her amber eyes but the amber gemstone in her forehead. She's incredibly soft and fun to pet and snuggle with. Just don't mind if she Mind-sings to you while snuggling.
The Soldier Wields a Mighty Sword Male Velve Caradras
Mindspeech: Bold #34785d
Velve Caradras are born warriors all. Combat comes to them quite naturally, but even among them there are those who almost seem to be gifted beyond the norm. Velve's for whom even the most complex of maneuvers with their bladed tails are as natural as breathing.
Mighty Sword is one such Caradras.
Some of his kind might view such prowess as a liberty to bully others, or to throw their proverbial weight around. Even if they avoid doing such to their Legion others, such as Bondeds and those they share a Bonded with, could be fair game. But Mighty Sword view his skills as more a responsibility, something to be used with prudence and precision. He refuses to engage in battle unless he is needed, and when he does so he is brutally efficient. Some cultures might refer to it as 'one strike, one kill.' Very few come away from a battle with him at all, and the few that do are rarely ever the same. Thankfully, his loyalty to his Bonded is as steadfast as his blade skill, or Percival might have a lot to worry about!
Mighty Sword stands a powerful seven feet tall at the withers, a beast of a draconic-equine with a dark indigo pelt and ink black mane that sets off his vivid red feathers well. His jagged horn is cloudy gray, and his tail blade is the color of bare bone. He keeps his fangs and claws very sharp at all times. His wings, which match his body with blood red edges to the membranes, are carried like a noble mantle when folded and flared to add intimidation to his foes right before engaging in battle. Mighty Sword's eyes are probably the lightest part of his coloration with their watery gray hue that turns to steel when he's angry.
The Wise Man's Tongue is his Weapon Male Valor Unicorn
Mindspeech: Italics #8bc0c9
There is a saying that goes 'discretion is the better part of valor.' Some might equate this with running away from a fight, and cowardice, and certainly there are cowards who speak these words before fleeing with all haste for their lives. But Wise Man's Tongue doesn't hold to that definition. To him is means caution, and wisdom, as opposed to brashness. He is a valor unicorn that, while he does not shun battle when it must come, tries to use words to diffuse hostilities. He has a ready wit and the wisdom to back it up, using pplite truth and sincerity to dismantle the reasons behind others' anger and even humor when it must be wielded – it's hard to remain angry with someone you share a laugh with. To this it's also almost impossible to insult him to anger. He knows well his own worth and value, and indeed his vices, so pointing them out can harm him little. Don't doubt though that when all else fails and especially is Percival's honor is on the line, Wise Man's Tongue will stand on the front lines, jousting with his platinum horn and using his force shield to protect those he loves.
To compliment his platinum horn and hooves, always highly-polished, Wise Man's Tongue has a pelt that only adds to his metallic appearance; his pelt his silver, and his silky mane and tail are champagne-gold. If he were to stand still long enough he might be mistaken for a metalsmith's work of art, save for his very-wise, bright purple eyes.
The Queen with a Thorny Crown Female Silver Mottle Dragon, Talith
Mindspeech: Bold Italics #6d1881
It isn't always easy being in a place of leadership. Decisions must be made that can affect many lives for the better or worse, there are always more questions than answers, and it seems like there is never a day off. Granted, Talith isn't a gold or red. She doesn't bear the weight of one to whom leadership of the Weyr may likely one day fall. But that just means it's her responsibility to make sure all the small and sundry details are taken care of, the little things that are just as vital but might be the straw that breaks the dragon's back if added to the burdens of the senior queens.
Talith is a very proactive dragon in a defensive way. She works to prevent troubles before they arise when needed. This means she checks with the kitchen workers at the start of winter and throughout, monitoring supplies. She inquires with the infirmary as to their needs, triple checks the herd beasts to ensure no dragon is overeating, and often visits the equipment rooms to look for needed replacements. She can come off as overbearing at times, a 'helicopter mother' of a dragon, but she only has the best interests of the Weyr at heart. And this protective nature – so predominant in silvers – is only multiplied when it comes to Percival himself. She has no issue in telling off someone who upsets him, snapping or snarling if they become aggressive, and varying between firm persuasion to scolding if she feels he is putting himself in too much danger. Really, she means very well and loves her Percival – or P'val as she often calls him - very much. She loves his bookish nature and his dedication to what he believes is right – and more often than not agrees with him – but really. No one can thrive without interaction with others, without socialization and friends to share life with. Talith will support her Rider in the things he feels important, and ensure he gets the things that she knows he needs too. It's all just a part of the job she was hatched to do.
Whereas most queen dragons are easily identifiable by their gold and red colors, if there was ever any doubt that Talith is a queen for being a silver it's dispelled at one glance. She is a dragon that carries herself with a sheer regal bearing. She has a soft, icy-silver hide dotted with silvery scales like chips of ice; they are all over her forty-foot long body and make her seem to glitter in the light. A wide band of rose-gold runs down her spine and curls attractively around her eyes, perhaps hinting at a mixed bloodline with gold and red heritage. She does not have the body-long frill of her Wild cousins; instead her head is quite literally crowned with one. Several long spines flare out encircling her brow and head with silver-scaled membranes spanning between each one that gleam like it was crafted by a jewel-smith for royalty. All she needs is a few gemstones to complete the look!
Just when you least expect it, beneath the hot summer sun as the dragonflies fly and the days are at their longest....
Splash! A spray of water right between the shoulder blades, or in the side. Then a chittering laugh before the culprit vanishes Between to seek out another 'victim' for her watery game! For really is there any better game to play in the summertime than getting together a bunch of friends and seeing how much you can drench one another through water balloons, water guns, or even buckets? It's a fun way to cool off and just about anyone and everyone can participate regardless of their ability to swim. Plus (unless the If interferes) no chance of drowning! To her this is totally a win-win-win! And then afterwards maybe everyone can go get some snacks as they dry off. Granted, sometimes she misses her intended target or thinks someone will enjoy playing when they're not interested, so there's been times when she gets into a bit of trouble for giving a surprise soaking. But true to copper form she always apologizes and it sincerely contrite because how could she know you were heading to an important meeting you just looked so hot in that suit, or that those papers were valuable or she startled you and you don't like being startled. She only means to share a laugh and a bit of fun.
Fate, Aeon, or the IF have given this copper mottle an interesting talent, one that she uses to her advantage in pursuit of fun: she can breathe a steam of water much like a dragon can fire at quite a distance (her best range was circa 25 feet), meaning she's her own water gun! Visually if she ever sat still for more than a moment someone might mistake her for a lifelike statue. Her coppery hide matches the scales that scatter across her body like slightly shinier polka dots and line her eye ridges, highlighting faceted eyes often glimmering with the blues of amusement.
Don't Worry I Don't Bite Hard Male Hunter Hellhound, Briarwood Speech Code: #4f0000 Italics
Appearance: Standing at an impressive three feet tall at the shoulder, he's sleek and slender built boy. His colors go from near black red from his muzzle running down his topside to the tip of his tail, the color then seems to run down his sides like flowing blood. His wings have the same effect only his long well cared for fangs are white.
Personality: A suave and smooth talker, Briarwood can usually get his way. He's rather sweet thing to Percival and anyone he makes a deal with. He'll do anything for Percival that he wouldn't normally do for others. Though he does often eye the others for a meal he won't harm them. At least not unless he were truly desperate.
Cotton Candy Kiss Guardian-Sand Hybrid Female, Pike
Mistwatcher+Gargoyle
Speech Code: d6d6d6
Appearance: This girl while not large or overly impressive at least by her own thoughts she stands at four feet tall like her gargoyle parent. She has short almost wire like hair that's covered in swirls of gray and sand tones, though there are dark gray stripes that run over her body.
Personality: Pike is very much a lawful creature she will abide the laws of a land over the laws of others. She is very much a creature that will always stand by the law as it is and will follow the spirit of the law rather than the letter. She is one of those that believes the spirit of the law is more important than the letter of the law and she will uphold it no matter what and she will do her best to be a good leader and protector. She's very much a creature that would rather stand with the laws of herself than the laws of other people.
She absolutely loves the Brown Firelizard Grog, she adores him and she wants to spend time with him. She also has a growing fondness for Scanlan, she thinks he's adorable with the obnoxious way he seems to make songs. She loves his spontaneousness and the way he has fun and she wants to have fun with him, she absolutely will stand by her own beliefs. She also wants to be the one that people turn to when they need help.
Grog the I'll Save You! Brown Mottle Firelizard, Grog Speech Code Save You; ff4700
Appearance: This boy is very large and he still appears as a typical brown as those of his rank but he does have slight reddish streaks. He is very proud of his appearance not that it matters all that much. He does have the mutation to talk as well, but he rarely uses it to say more than 'Ale' or 'Save You!'
Personality: Three things are Grog's favorites, Ale, Scanlan and Percival not in that order but still, though one outranks even Percival. Pike the Hybrid, she saved his life and this has made them nearly inseparable and also makes it hard for either to do things.
Though Grog is still a show off he's also very prone to stealing mugs of ale. He'll stick his head in and attempt to drink all the ale in it. Once he's drunk he gets even more "heroic" and would try to face even an angry Queen Dragon if he thought he had to in that state of mind.
If you're looking for a flit that's full to bursting with positive thoughts and encouragement, look no further than this brass flit. He is very much a glass half-full sort of fire lizard, the type who believes that even if life throws you lemons you can take them and make lemonade. All it takes is a little bit of extra sugar to make things sweeter. He doesn't limit his encouragement to just his bonded, however - if he sees a stranger that's down on their luck, he will take it upon himself to make their situation better whether it's through verbal encouragement or offering tips and tricks that might help them make the most of their situation if not completely turn it around. He's a bit on the larger side for one of his rank, though nowhere near as large as a bronze, and like the fine dusting of white on the shell of his egg he's got a few off-white scales here and there, possibly hinting at a silver fire lizard somewhere in his bloodline to further explain his much more helpful nature.
Appearance: Elena is a very large creature she sits at an impressive forty two feet long and she is large enough to eat most living things. Blessedly she does not need to eat much by way of others, she is impressive in size because her coloring makes it easier for her to blend into the areas she prefers which is the woodlands and the waterways there in. She is very much a quiet and unmoving predator she can not hunt all that fast as her size does not allow it. Her wings are also impressive but that's in color only they are vibrant and stand out against her pale green-gray patterned body. They are blues and reds that seem to bleed one into the other.
Personality: Elena is a gentle creature, she's sweet and kind she tends to not give up too easily but she also has extreme patience and it shows in how she behaves towards Percival. She will take care of him as best she can but she's also prone to doing her own thing and she is a creature that would much rather be able to deal with the fact that she's one of the largest of his various creatures and it shows very easily in the fact she has no fear towards Talith or Vorgath. This Winged Serpent is brave beyond reason when it concerns the large dragons.
Testing Boundaries and Helping Growth Male Ilythiir Illaro, Syldor
MindSpeech: #060606
Appearance: This pure black Illaro is a good specimen of his kind and he seems to be of good build, he's a bit more stocky than average and he tends towards being more steady on his feet than quick. He's clearly not meant for running long distances and it shows in how he behaves towards his bonded. His runes are barely visible in normal lighting as is true of all Ilythiir but in total darkness they show up and swirl.
Personality: This boy is very much one that will find the boundaries of people and push on them, he will not back down till he's forced the person to really analyze why they feel that way about that thing. He is also one that will analyze his own feelings he is very self aware of things but he does have a strong disdain for other Illaro, it comes from the fact that he's never had an easy life. Though now it makes him conscious of what he does and to understand others is something he wants more than anything. He is not above getting Percival to realize what a shit he is and make him grow up a little bit.
