The trip to High Mountain had been rather uneventful. Which Jeremi was highly grateful for. Flying was never one of his favorite activities to do and he only ever really enjoyed it with Kemori. Probably because he could bury his face into the Kitsune's hair and therefore prevent himself from looking down at how far away the ground actually was. That wasn't the case this time and closing his eyes only seemed to make the world spin behind his eyes. So he did his best to focus his eyes on the back of the rider's head and pretend they weren't thousand of feet up in the air.
Guess it was a good thing he only discovered this dislike after coming here. Possibly.
The landing couldn't come fast enough and Jeremi promptly had himself unbuckled and sliding off the dragon in record time. Tugging off his bag, he moved off to find Mildred and Kemori. He didn't have to look too terribly hard as he felt a tail about his waist and a nuzzle at his neck as Kemori found him first. Relaxing into the embrace for just a moment, Jeremi pulled away as his eyes scanned for Mildred, a hand automatically intertwining with one of Kemori's. Soon enough, he felt a tail around his wrist. "Haven't seen my hard headed cousin around have you?" It was a valid question as he doubted the Cloudmoores wanted a fight to break out and he really didn't want to treat either one of the participants. He loved them both dearly, but he would rather not have to bandage them up on the trip till after the dragons hatched. That at least was understandable.
Of course, Mildred could always not start a fight with Kemori. Jeremi thought the chances of that was pretty low though. She was getting better about not punching anything that wasn't one hundred percent human right away. She still had a long way to go and none of the people she had encountered is currently dating her only family here. Both of which stacked the odds of a fight higher rather than lower.
Not seeing her despite his height, he shrugged and just relaxed beside Kemori as they walked. Mildred had a bad (in his opinion) habit of being able to hide when she wanted too. Though he doubted she could completely sneak up on Kemori, he did his best to not be a distraction to the kitsune. Which was far easier said than done. He never did quite know what was on Kemori's mind or just what the other found so endearing about him some days, but he wasn't about to question it.
So there was to be a feast later tonight for them? That was nice of them and an awful lot of trouble as he looked around once more at all the candidates that had shown up. Then again, they were also going to some trouble leaving their home weyr and staying here till the eggs hatched. He supposed it balanced out in the end.
They were given their room assignments and while some of the riders were eager to explore their surroundings, Jeremi gave his lover a sidelong glance. "Soooo....Kemori. Do you have any-" He didn't finish that thought as a voice sounded behind him.
"Jeremi! Kemori! I didn't know you two knew each other. Saves me from some introductions." Jeremi hadn't even heard her come up behind them and Kemori certainly hadn't warn him either. Gathering by the grin when Jeremi jumped nearly six inches into the air, he suspected that had been on purpose. Disentangling his hand as quickly as he could, Jeremi pressed it against his heart to take a measure of its beats as he wondered if this was the heart attack Mildred had been trying to bring on him throughout his life.
"Oh yes. You could say we know each other very well." Kemori's voice came out in a low purr as one of those tails brushed against Jeremi's back, nearly giving the healer another heart attack. Both the glare aimed at his lover and the tone of voice he used when referring to just how well they knew each other was lost on Mildred.
The world could grant small favors after all.
"I helped bind up his ribs after he took a tumble. Plus he helped me pick some apples." Better to put them in neutral settings before Mildred could get any other ideas about them. "He did mention knowing you in some of our conversations."
"Better than him mentioning you. Though I guess it is hard to speak when someone is trying to punch your face in." Jeremi barely hid that wince. Nice to know that Kemori was agile enough to avoid getting nailed in the face by Mildred and that she had found a new sparring partner. He just wished that it wasn't Kemori.
He barely resisted the urge to ran a hand through his hair as Kemori kept lightly flicking his tail along his back. It was relaxing at least and helped to keep the urge to groan under control. "Our room is this way, according to the map. Yours?" He didn't realize the slip of the tongue and Mildred was nodding her head, not having picked it up yet either.
At that nod, he realized that Mildred would probably be walking them the rest of the way he wondered which room would come first. As she took the lead, he took Kemori's hand again, letting the fluffy tail wrap around his wrist. Small talk filled the short trip to Mildred's room which was apparently first.
Once again, letting go of Kemori's hand, he hugged his cousin, mussing up her hair as he danced out of the way. Glaring at him, she quickly turn that glare on Kemori. "You are a bad influence on him. Haven't even known him that long and already rubbing off on him."
"Come on Mildred. Don't be like that. Kemori has done nothing wrong." Moving, he wrapped an arm around Kemori's waist as the other turned and nuzzled behind Jeremi's head, hiding the mild look of confusion on his face. "This is a grand adventure! I'm allowed to have some fun every now and then."
"Yep. Bad influence." Making a face at her cousin, she entered her room and promptly shut the door.
Letting out a laugh, he just shook his head as he released Kemori. "I think she may finally figure it out. Knew I should have packed you a helmet."
"It probably wouldn't work with my ears." Jeremi watched as Kemori flicked said body part, laughing again as he resumed walking.
"I guess you are right...Now as I was saying...Or maybe it would be better to just show you?" Having spotted their room, Jeremi pulled Kemori close to him and picked him up. The healer would never get tired of being able to do that as Kemori nuzzled into him.
Those two probably wouldn't be found for awhile.
As for Channah, she would wisely be out of sight of the two till her own stomach reminded her that food should be at hand soon and promptly interrupting whatever it was Kemori and Jeremi happened to doing. Nothing like a firelizard wake up call. Right?
