It was an unusual request, delivered by unique messengers.
Weyrwoman Sandasa looked at the papers she held, rereading the important words once more, then at the three standing before her.
The three, two men and a woman, were clearly related. That was quite visible even if the letter didn't indicate such. All of them appeared to be humans in their early twenties, with light-colored skin, vibrant red hair (worn in shoulder length tails on the men) and green eyes though the specific shades varied slightly. They were tall individuals, the men likely standing a couple inches over six feet and the woman perhaps four inches shy of the six foot mark. All three were clad in armor - breastplate, gauntlets, greaves, and sabadons - with long tabards hanging from neck to ankles displaying the emblem of their Weyr; a skyline dominated by a single, massive mountain peak, backed by a silver dragon wing. But there were some things that set them apart from one another.
The man who stood center, whom she'd guessed to be both the elder by the name of Thomas and was acting leader, had a metal badge shaped like a kite shield set into his armor over his heart. It repeated the Weyr emblem colored with enamel only including a quarter-inch boarder of silver around it.
Mica, his brother, stood to his right. He was very similar to his brother in build though there was a bit more dark to his hair. Like Thomas he had a badge only the boarder was blue. He also had a tome and bag of crystals that he'd willingly left out of the room along with his sibling's and his own greatspears. He was grinning brightly, as opposed to Thomas' more serious mien.
Erika, on Thomas' left, lacked the badges her brothers had but she definitely stood out in her own way. For one she wore her armor with the same ease as the men, and for another her hair, bound in a tight braid, hung clear to her ankles. She was actively looking around the room and at Sandasa herself and at A'lan who was currently leaning over to look at the letter in more detail.
"Quite an unusual request," Sandasa finally said, handing over the letter to the bronzerider, "fueled by unusual circumstances."
"Of that we are very aware," Thomas agreed with a wry smile, shifting in place and tapping a foot. "I apologize; I don't mean to seem impatient. It's hard for our bloodline to keep still for long."
"If taking a seat would help, my invitation is still open." Thomas and Mica sat, though Erika stood, indicating she was okay for the moment.
"My sole questing," A'lan spoke up, "is why exactly you are here personally." He tapped the letter with the back of his fingers as he elaborated. "Weyrleader Cloudmoore indicates that messenger firelizards have been sent to the other nearby Weyrs of Teragaia, yet to Haven he sends not one but three of his children as ambassadors."
"A gesture of respect for the First Weyr," answered Mica, "and a show of his admiration. We're well aware of all that Haven Weyr does to prevent threats from spreading past its boundaries, and how you many times take the brunt of attacks." He grinned sidelong at his sister. "And some good experience for our homebound sister!" Erika sputtered a bit in sibling indignation and in a quick step swatted her brother upside the head. Mica just laughed as he fended her off, and A'lan smiled in amusement at their antics, though Thomas quickly put a hold on their roughhousing.
"Settle down! You can get your fidgets out after the meeting is done!" They separated, Erika looking sheepish and Mica unrepentant. Thomas cleared his throat. "Weyrwoman Sandasa, Bronzerider A'lan, please excuse them." Sandasa brushed it off, more focused on the question at hand than a bit of overexcitement.
"Well, I for one have utterly no issue with it," A'lan spoke up, laying the paper on the desk. "No self-respecting Weyr would, and any that do don't deserve the title."
"I agree. It isn't like there is anything we would stand to lose by agreeing, morality and common decency aside." The three siblings all looked relieved as she concluded, "When you are ready, those who might be willing to come to your aid will be gathered to hear what you have to say. Then they can decide for themselves." Thomas smiled.
"Thank you both."
By the end of the day notices would be posted in the Sleeping Shamrock, at the Library, and at any other place people were known to gather or linger. The gist was that High Mountain Weyr was asking for assistance in a matter relating to an impending Hatching, and all those interested should gather in the park for more details. The date was given for the next day at one in the afternoon for this meeting.
By the appointed time a quick-made stage had been assembled, and three newcomers to Haven Village stood alongside Weyrwoman Sandasa.
The Weyrwoman let the crowd get settled, then held up a hand for their attention.
"Thank you all for coming today. These three with me are Thomas, Mica, and Erika Cloudmoore of High Mountain Weyr. They have come to us on behalf of their father, Weyrleader Magnus Cloudmoore, to request our help in what I agree is a potentially dire matter." Sandasa gestured for Thomas to begin, and he cleared his throat.
"This past winter our home Weyr was hit by a vicious outbreak. Whether it was a wicked twist of the IF or just unfortunate fate, it targeted not the old and young but those in their prime. Erika herself barely fought it off, and there were many who weren't so fortunate."
"The outbreak has been defeated," Mica picked up, "but this has resulted in another problem we didn't foresee: prior to the outbreak several clutches of dragon eggs were laid. They will hatch within the next two weeks. But with the losses we've suffered - there aren't enough viable candidates, even scouting the entirety of our territory to equal them. So the odds are a great number of eggs that we suspect may be Pureblood will go Between for lack of a Rider."
"Our father does not accept this possibility," Erika said. "He will not stand by and let that happen without a fight! So he is calling out to ask Weyrs for those willing to cone to High Mountain and stand as candidates, to save as many of them as we can from oblivion." Thomas took up the speech once more.
"Rest assured, those that do Impress will owe no loyalty to High Mountain; you will remain Riders of Haven Weyr. Our only desire is to try and make this Hatching a celebratory occasion, rather than one of mourning for lives lost too soon." He took a deep breath. "Those that are willing, we will arrange for transportation if its needed and you will be provided for for the duration of your stay with us regardless whether you Impress or not. And while I regret to rush your decision, time is working against us. We will have to know who will be coming with us by the end of the week, in three days, and we will be departing the next day. Before then we ask that you find us, or send word to Weyrwoman Sandasa, and tell us of your intent so we can ensure required conveyance is available." Thomas sighed, then smiled. "Those that accept this call - thank you."

Welcome to my Dragon Bonding!
Rules are much as usual for Bondings:
- site rules and my rules apply.
- Any number of characters can step forward as candidates, and even those that have been indicated as NOT being desired to Impress should still do so with the intention of trying, as it were. Thomas and his siblings are looking for candidates, not spectators. (Don't worry, those I've been told shouldn't Bond dragons won't. It's just for story's sake.)
- You can bring any ONE Bonded Companion with you, any size. Just keep in mind there are places larger ones may not fit. This may or may not work to your advantage later, however. Even already-Impressed Dragons are permitted.
- Anyone may powerplay my own Raferties, Keldos, and Anari for dragon transport requests.
- Your first post should run from the park meeting up until the day of the departure, though I'll pick things up from there. Whatever your characters would do for the three days delay might be important, so think carefully and consider your characters' personalities and experiences.
- NPCs may accompany characters, but they will not be capable of Impression in this Bonding.
