An Egg-straordinary Surprise (Medium Fire Lizard Bonding)

The eggs:

Chamomile Egg: This egg is mostly white, save for a bright yellow center. It would probably resemble an egg yolk if not for the sweet smell wafting from it.

Bubblegum Egg: This egg is a soft pink, not unlike a piece of bubblegum. The shell is almost but not quite translucent, allowing one to see the fire lizard moving within though not enough to make out the color.

Coffee Egg: This egg's shell is split down the middle color-wise, one half dark brown and the other half light brown. It smells like freshly-brewed coffee.

Chocolate Egg: This egg's shell is the exact same color as milk chocolate. Rivulets of brown run down the shell, almost like it's melting.

Lemonade Egg: This egg is pale yellow with a fine dusting of white freckles across its shell presumably meant to imitate sugar.

Lollipop Egg: This egg is a rainbow of color, the shell's design resembling one of those big round lollipops you'd find at a carnival. Tasty!

Well, the upside to having firelizards was that they were pretty well-informed about each other's clutches around town. The downside to having firelizards was that sometimes they would drag Rylan to these other clutches by his hair, which he was trying to keep neat, but Menolly had a firm grip on an incomplete braid and was not letting go. Robinton caught a mouthful of another braid, and together brass and blue mottles drove their Harper across the village from Harper Hall.

He was mostly just glad he was dressed.

Spotting Void and Dominic, Rylan tried to get a greeting in edgewise, but Menolly was a brass mottle and was cheeping and chirruping and babbling to her heart's content at them and she only got louder when Rylan tried to break into the "conversation".

As it turned out, Dominic apparently didn't need to worry about getting the word out about the clutch of fire lizard eggs. Upon spotting Void, Dominic couldn't help but tense slightly. He wasn't very good with unfamiliar people and he was very sure he'd never met them in his years on Teragaia so far. What if they thought ill of him? Luckily, Kimasa also happened to be present and were quick to communicate that he meant no harm despite his appearance. Random stuck out his tongue playfully in Void's direction. He smells like zhe night sky und forgotten places, the fire lizard quipped with a giggle.

Dominic shook his head slightly at Random's words before finding the courage to address Void on his own. "Ah, hello..." he started, blinking at the sound of Void's voice. It was certainly unlike anything he'd ever heard before, but he decided it was probably for the best not to question it. "I'm Dominic." If he touches zhese eggs, ve vill roast him, Hothead growled out. It seemed Random wasn't the only protective one, then.

It wasn't long before a second visitor arrived, and Dominic couldn't help wondering just how they were finding his home. Hopefully it wasn't going to become a tourist attraction. He did give Rylan a small wave in lieu of a greeting, figuring that the brass currently chattering at him wasn't going to let him speak anyways. Now it was Icy's turn to let out a low growl, finding the endless chatter mildly annoying, and he snapped his teeth at Menolly in the hopes of getting her to be silent for a moment.

Their bonded didn't do well with overly talkative creatures, so it was just as much for Dominic's sake as that of his own sanity.

At least the third arrival, Percival, seemed more intent on speaking to Rylan than he was to Dominic, and the zombie could only sigh softly and thank whatever gods were out there for small mercies. The quiet (relatively speaking, due to Menolly still chattering away) would only be broken once again when Random let out a surprised squawk.

Zhe eggs, zhe eggs are moving!

And indeed they were, the Chocolate Egg beginning to rock back and forth while the Chamomile Egg developed a long crack down the center.

Having a firelizard grab him by the hair and pull him towards something was not a common thing Hei Bohai often had happen. It was growing increasingly more common since Xiuying had come to stay with him and her brother, but he did try to put a stop to it when he could. Still, it seemed that Hei Bohai had no choice in the matter this time. She had a hold of him, and she was going while trilling at the top of her tiny lungs. The brass was very adamant, and he could do nothing to stop this from happening.

Well, nothing short of tearing her off of him but even he wasn't cruel enough for that. She'd done nothing to harm him after all.

"Xiuying'er," he said, his tone threatening when she tugged too hard on his braid. The brass firelizard chirped, tittered, and let go of one strand only to grab onto another. He grumbled under his breath in Chinese and lightly grabbed her around the middle, detaching her claws from his braid. "Robe, not hair."

Her eyes swirled green in rapid circles and she hooked her claws into his sleeve and yanked, flapping her wings. And away they went. She led him to a small gathering, where others of her kind were flocking and there were eggs. Ah. Well. This was certainly something. He cast a look around, noting the shaking eggs, the mutated firelizard sitting on and/or near them, and then startled when Xiuying started to hum.

Right. That was different from her normal sounds.

He recognized Void from Fu Xing's description of them, and Percival of course he'd met before, but Hei Bohai couldn't say anyone else was familiar. Which was for the best, surely. The less people who knew of him the less he'd have to explain. He held out his palm and Xiuying settled onto it, wrapping her tail around his wrist and humming louder. "Are we here because of the eggs, Xiuying?" he asked flatly.

Images of cracking eggs and the impression of hunger was his answer and he sighed. Alright then. They were here because of the eggs.

*C’mon, Nat-Nat - over here! We don’t wanna miss all the fun!*

The sounds of unfamiliar voices and activity, it seemed, had caught the keen ears of a fun-loving sphinx - to the slight chagrin of his more cautious Irken bonded, who currently had her arms wrapped around her critter’s neck in an evidently futile attempt to contain his boundless energy, but instead had ended up dragged along for the ride.

“Pip, please, slow down! We don’t want to disturb -“ Barely had the words left Nat’s mouth, however, when the two found themselves in the middle of what seemed to be a small gathering of people, firelizards and eggs, to Nat’s embarrassment and Pip’s obvious delight. “Oh - I’m sorry...” she murmured, her lekku flattening against her head as she averted her eyes from the strangers’ gazes, anxiety tightening in her spooch. “I hope we’re not - we didn’t mean to...”

Pip gave his bonded a comforting nuzzle as she slid off his back, but kept her distance, taking in the scene before her before proceeding. He knew how anxious and overwhelmed Nat could get meeting new people if she hadn’t prepared for it , so it was often up to him to help coax her out of her shell. Heh - and speaking of shells.... *It’s okay, Nat-Nat - they’re just babies, see?*, he assured her gently, his eyes lighting up with wonder and curiosity as he glanced over all the little critters. He moved a little closer to the nest, leaning down to get a closer look at the remaining eggs.

The Chocolate Egg rolled out of the nest, all of the way over to one of the newest arrivals - Nat, to be more specific. It bumped into her leg and cracked open, revealing a small white whose eyes whirled with hunger. He needed food and he needed it now, so hopefully she had brought some with her to feed her newest acquisition.

I'd Rather Fall In Chocolate Than In Love Male White

Some associate love with chocolate, and vice versa. This flit is not one of them - he has absolutely zero interest in romance, much less finding a mate. No, he's far fonder of the sweetness of chocolate than he is of the idea of participating in a chase. Whether it's truffles, plain chocolate, or peanut butter chocolate, he's eager to snack on them all. He would certainly have a hard time picking a favorite if you asked, though he's by no means selfish when it comes to sharing his favorite treat. Feeling down? Have a candy bar. It's hard to say where he keeps finding all of these delicious chocolatey delights and he's certainly not telling. His chocolate fixation extends to other treats as well, such as ice cream and cake and brownies. Like most flits, he is sensitive to the birth of new lives, and he will often go out in search of them to offer the little ones a gift of chocolate. That's not to say he isn't willing to make substitutions should it turn out that someone can't eat chocolate for whatever reason - he keeps a stash of candy made with carob for exactly this reason so no one has to feel left out during snack time.

The Chamomile Egg finally cracked open as well, following its brother's lead. What tumbled out was unmistakably a bronze, though even in the face of his hunger he would survey the remaining individuals before his gaze finally settled on one in particular. With a destination clearly in mind, he ambled over to Rylan, opening his mouth as expectantly as a baby bird for some food.

A Cup Or Two Of Chamomile Bronze

In terms of the coffee versus tea debate, this bronze flit is very much on the side of tea. And no, he will not be budged from this viewpoint. A good cup of tea goes a long way in his opinion, whether it be to wake up and prepare for the day or to relax before bedtime. Tea is versatile, and so too is this flit even despite his stubborn nature - his talents aren't simply limited to fighting and fishing, not at all. He's also quite proud of his expertise when it comes to making tea, although chamomile is by far his specialty. He's also got quite a good memory, able to recall an individual's preferred type of tea and how much sugar or other additions (if any) they take even if he's only been told once. Should his bonded or his bonded's critter companions be fellow tea-lovers, he's more than willing to wake up early and busy himself in the kitchen preparing their favored drinks. He's a lighter shade of bronze that in the right lighting could possibly be mistaken for amber, just like the chamomile tea he loves.

Bond! A Cup Or Two Of Chamomile Bronze to Rylan!

While the two other flits had very clearly found their person right off the bat, there were still four other fire lizard eggs that had yet to hatch. But it seemed that the rest were wanting to join in on the fun, with the Coffee Egg shifting back and forth in the nest while the three-headed fire lizard and Dominic kept a close eye on the eggs. The Lemonade Egg would also begin moving, rocking a bit more energetically than the rest as though it wanted to follow the white's example from earlier and roll right out of the nest and towards their chosen.

Xiuying chirped in the midst of her humming, practically vibrating on Hei Bohai's arm. She zeroed in on the two rocking eggs, lashing her tail in excitement much like a cat would, and repeated the images back to Hei Bohai of eggs cracking open.

"Yes, I get it. You hatch from eggs--"

Hei Bohai's attention was stolen by the egg that rolled away, cracking in front of a new person who had come after him. And out came a white firelizard that looked... similar and yet not to Xiuying and He Shui. How interesting.

Xiuying hummed louder, digging her claws into Hei Bohai's forearm. He could feel the prick of them through his robe sleeve which was... unfortunate, but didn't hurt terribly much. He turned his eyes to the next egg to break, and another firelizard found someone.

"What was your goal with this, Ying'er?" he asked softly.

She swung her head around to look at him. Images of babies of her kind came flooding in, paired with images of their room. Well, there was only one conclusion to draw from that really.

"I see." More of her kind to join them. Probably to get a relief from her brother. Perhaps it would mean they'd stop fighting so much.

Hei Bohai could certainly hope.
