Sometimes when things Happened, it was through mortal action or inaction. More than likely it was the IF.
But sometimes when tragedy struck out was simply plain old Mother Nature and bad luck!
The storm was horrible, the kind that even had wild red dragons holding up in their lairs and the Weyr and Village on virtual lockdown. Thunder made windows in the Sleeping Shamrock rattle and lightning turned night into day. The rain might have been hail for how loudly it struck the rooftops. Trees bent under the wind, lost leaves and even branches, and a few trees even toppled entirely!
In the fields not to far away the water had been gathering and swirling in the dips between the hills. Haven Village was too far away to be under threat but that didn't mean others were so fortunate. With a sudden surge as one mini stream met another and became a creek, it rushed forth and along the path of least resistance...right into a hole in the ground.
Panic was instantaneous! Voices screamed in terror, fury bodies piled around and even over one another as they tried to escape a drowning demise. Tunnels collapsed as they became too sodden to hold up.
And finally from the only remaining exit six little furry bodies shot one after the other, running in blind terror.
They darted into the Village, but in the streets the shadows created by the lightning further confused and terrified them and, unable to bear any more they scattered, vanishing from sight.
The next dawn. The tailor was moving about her shop front examining the damage when she spied a little fluffy, bedraggled tail under a damaged bush. Crouching down and petting closer she was shocked at what she found.
A few moments and a Bond later, she knew what needed to be done, and the drums sounded:
Bunny hunt! Lost Bunnies in Village! Bring tape and glue for repairs!
Ah, Harper Tomlin at his finest again. Well, maybe the point got across?
