The role of a hero can be a hard burden to bear. They are oftentimes called upon to make hard choices and carry the weight of the world on their shoulders many times with little thanks for their efforts. They suffer and struggle and take terrible hurts both physical and mental, and still more is expected of them. Expected of you, for oftentimes in the crazy world of Teragaia aren't you the one called upon the take up that difflcult, difficult role?
But even when all other lights go out and despair, failture, seems on the horizon a presence comes to your side. One both encouraging and supporting, willing to stay with you even through the most dire of circumstances. He may not be able to carry your burdens for you – though he wishes he could otherwise – but he's more than strong enough to carry you. Literally in his case, as a Chinook he is among the strongest of Pegasi ranks. All of his Chinook stubbornness is compressed into his dedication to his Bonded. Even if you tell him no, he'll follow you. If you tell him it's too dangerous, he'll walk forward into the danger boldly. Enemies threaten and he'll rear and flare his wings and neigh in challenge, even if they're much larger than he is.
You are his Bonded, his Friend, and even into the fires of hell he will be with you, unto the end of it all.
His other main passion and enjoyment is being out in nature, in specific gardening which he takes to with an equal will to his adventuring at his Bonded's side. It doesn't matter whether it's flowers or edibles; he'll happily use his hooves and mouth to dig out their proper spots, plant, weed, and harvest them.
To look at him you might not think he's able to carry all the weight he can, because he's a small Pegasus. In size he's has the build of an Icelandic Horse, about 13.5 hands high to use the equine measurement. But don't let that fool you – his Chinook carrying ability is quite sound and even a fully-grown adult won't make his knees buckle. His hide is a rich, earthy brown with a white splotch on his right side and a white stocking on his right hind leg. His mane and tail are a shade lighter than his body, closer to a cinnamon, and his mane is naturally short and thick. It is so thick his forelock often seems to stick up in wild directions, and he sometimes has to give his head a little toss to keep the edges out of his blue eyes. Unlike most Pegasus he has the Aeon's Kiss mutation, allowing him to Mindspeak.
Devour Everything In The World Equine Female Hybrid
Firemane-Hippogryph
Mindspeech: Underlined #c60000
Possessing an insatiable appetite, no amount of food ever seems to satisfy this particular mare. She has extended her diet from the most decadent and gourmet foods to things normal people would never think of eating, which can include out of season fruits and live insects, down to the dishes that her meals are served on. She is the only survivor of a plague that caused the members of her Inferno to die off, with said plague causing its victims to consume anything and everything in an attempt to curb their growing hunger (including inedible objects). Though not initially affected by the plague, this equine hybrid was forced to eat all of the food she was given by her mother while she was a foal and terrorized when she refused to eat. Unfortunately, she contracted the plague later after drinking the blood of a pig that carried the disease shortly after her Inferno was reduced to ash. Despite this setback she was the sole creature to discover the cure for the plague: while the infected would be forced to satisfy their appetite for a period of up to two years, if the infected did not refuse to eat or avoided eating inedible objects while afflicted with the plague the symptoms would disappear and the individual would recover. She knows she probably doesn't have that much longer to live, but she's not going to rest until she figures out how to keep herself alive. Perhaps bonding to someone just might prevent her death.
Despite her immense hunger, this particular equine still retains the dainty build of a Wraith Firemane, along with violet hooves. However, her body is covered in lustrous red fur and her wings are made up of reddish-brown feathers that appear crimson in the right lighting due to her South Hippogryph lineage. Her eyes are a dark brown, and she has a small red rose tucked in her feathered mane to better lull others into a false sense of security before she makes her move. Her defeated foes are very likely to end up as her next meal.
Wait, Be Patient, Then...Strike! Male Katana Sharpblade
Hakam
Mindspeech
There are many people who find fishing to be a very relaxing activity. Quietly sitting, watching nature around you and waiting for that perfect moment when you get a bite (or just sit and let the fish get all your bait uncaring about it, whichever). Whether enjoyed with others or as a solo pursuit you may find peaceful moments and if you're lucky a meal to cook later!
There are many animals that fish as well, including Bondeds. Though very few Sharpblades claim such a title as the species is much more a pursuit hunter of larger game there is one notable exception, ironically as his rank isn't known for being hunters. A certain Katana, after acquiring a taste of fish and deciding he quite likes it, has taken his rank's natural speed and turned it to more watery targets. He is a patient one, willing and able to sit utterly motionless at the shore or in the shallows for half an hour at a time if that's what it takes, watching fish after fish swim placidly by unconcerned by the still blur above the water until he takes aim and then lunges in a sudden flash, leg talons leading the way. It's not uncommon for him a successfully pierce a prize on at least one talon and a few times he's even gotten two at once. Then a quick flick of a leg to deposit his catch on the shore for a quick kill, them he'll either go ahead and scarf it down or of he was retrieving it for others bend down with a little work and pick it up with his forelimbs to carry home. Hopefully his Bonded won't mind helping with the cleanup though. He loves the taste but hates the fishy smell especially on himself! And should a battle break out he'll take these same ambush-type tactics to larger 'fish' with just as much enthusiasm.
A two-toned Sharpblade, his back and the upper sides of his head, neck, legs and tail are a deep direct green with thin, lighter green tiger stripes. Everywhere else he is a light, crystalline blue with a mix of thin, wavy white and slightly darker blue lines somewhat like the rolling surface of the water he fishes from. Together this makes his royal purple eye mask stand out quite vividly. Some have asked him whether he considers the dark shade a hindrance or a boon, and he always will tell them that it is quite useful protecting his eyes from the glare of the sun off the water.
One Can Only Do So Much On Their Own Zephyr Pegasus - Faerra
Quiet and resourceful, this Zephyr is small even when compared to other foals her age. While more than accustomed to working on her own, she is willing to help her fellow prisoners escape when she can. Remarkably calm and levelheaded even in moments where death appears imminent (perhaps unsurprisingly given her rank), she is capable of recognizing when her own strength or puzzle-solving ability will not be enough to navigate through a potentially dangerous situation. Though this Zephyr does have the tendency to jump a little too quickly to conclusions every now and then, she is more than willing to be patient with the young and frightened no matter how long it may take them to warm up to her. However, she will not push if someone feels they are better off on their own. She resembles a golden miniature horse with a dark brown mane and tail. Unfortunately one of her wings has been irreparably damaged, making her incapable of flight.
Incurably Given To Rove Male Gold Magatama Muneshige
Mindspeech: Bold #fff8d2
One of the few calicos sporting a gold magatama, Muneshige is a nekomata that one usually wouldn't want around their money. He's an incorrigible thief, you see, and while he specializes in food he'll also resort to stealing money. He's perfected his cute and innocent act and always works in tandem with his littermate Rumi to steal as much as they can possibly carry before running off with their spoils and thus leaving behind their victim who is often none the wiser until they eventually check their pockets. Muneshige has a preference for human food and it's not uncommon for him to use his magic to steal a whole turkey from the oven to feed himself and Rumi, without a care for whether their bonded was eventually going to eat it or not. After so long trying to survive off of scraps due to having been driven away from the rest of the clowder for their thievery, he feels it's the least he and Rumi deserve. However, he is determined that he and Rumi are the only ones that can steal from their bonded - should anyone else, whether they be humanoid or feline, attempt such a thing, they will be met by a duo of vengeful, angry cats.
Nothing At All To Be Done About That Female Gold Magatama Rumi
Mindspeech: Bold #fef0a4
As one half of a pair of mischievous calicos, Rumi is as energetic as she is agile. She doesn't like being separated from Muneshige as they do their best thievery together, though unlike Muneshige she possesses very little magic. Unable to give blessings or inflict curses, she naturally resorted to thievery in order to fulfill her purpose, and Muneshige followed in her pawprints. Together they are some of the best thieves among the Nekomata, perhaps even the best thieves in Teragaia, and due to their very similar appearances it's typically hard to tell which of them committed the crime. Like Muneshige, she has a fondness for coin but an even bigger fondness for food as they were both exiled from their clowder due to said thievery. She also enjoys cat puns, much to her littermate's chagrin, and often refers to the two of them proudly as 'literal cat burglars.' Though a few minutes younger than her sibling, she's always the one to pick out marks while Muneshige plans out how they're going to infiltrate and steal what they need from the store, house, or person that she has chosen otherwise she would just rush into things with her usual exuberance.
A loyal and dutiful protector, this tabby Nekomata is rather striking in terms of appearance as he sports silvery fur with bold black stripes. He's patient and capable as a teacher and is beloved by many of the young kits in his clowder, and he adores them in return. Family is something he cherishes immensely and should this Nekomata decide that one is worthy of his protection one would be hard-pressed to find a better guardian. While like most of his rank he is gifted in protection, his takes the form of strength beyond the levels of what any other feline could reasonably achieve. If he's able to get his jaws around it, he can lift it, and a simple bat at a toy can send it flying out of his bonded's hand if he so desires. While he normally would prefer not to resort to violence, especially in view of one who he has taken on as his charge, he is not above killing an intruder should they seek to do those under his protection harm. For the most part, however, he will simply keep them immobilized until authorities arrive and haul off the would-be criminal to be judged and sentenced by those capable of enforcing the law.
Mask Of Repentance Canine Female Hybrid - Harukaze (spring breeze)
Hellhound-Kitsune
Mindspeech: Bold #06a903
After having been left for dead by her biological mother, this hybrid was adopted by an Ilythir-Kitsune whom had promised he would raise her as his own pup after his own mate and firstborn pup had drowned. Unfortunately for her this was shortly before he lost himself to his obsessions and as a result she grew up isolated and neglected, coming to resent her adoptive father and wanting nothing more to do with him. When she was younger she would hide the stuffed toy he was so enchanted and cause other various kinds of mischief with in the hopes that it might get her some attention. It did, but not the kind of attention she wanted. She was belittled for being a 'jealous pup' and constantly compared to her adoptive father's deceased pup who had been 'so well-behaved and charming.' Intelligent and mature for her young age, she realized that her father has no qualms about hurting others to get what he wants and now that she is old enough, she is determined to stop him from hurting anyone else...even if it means ripping his throat out in his sleep. She will not stand for any further injustice, even if it means getting her paws bloody to prevent it. Her Hellhound nature makes her far more serious, calculating, and blunt.
For the most part she resembles a Hunter hellhound, her fur a dark green shade that looks black (enabling her to easily blend into forested areas) and bearing the blood-red paws and red band over her eyes. Her three tails and jade-colored eyes denote her Wind Kitsune lineage.
Wherever I Roam I Always Find Home Rapier Meowlure - Enora
Speech: Bold #074707
This Meowlure has a serious case of wanderlust. Not that such a thing is too surprising given the blade that she carries at her hip. Rapiers are known to wander, after all, hunting out the needs of the Pace as they come. She also has a strong drive to see what lay beyond the horizon. It's very hard for her to stay in one place for long without a strong incentive to do so, but never fear! Even should she wander you can always trust that she'll find a place to sleep at night and that eventually she will wander her way back home.
Perhaps her fur pattern might help with camouflage under the right conditions with its calico patches of orange and black with white on her throat, belly, and paws. Tufts on the top of her ears give them a pointed, slightly longer-than-usual look to them and add to the elegant appearance of her green eyes. Suitable to her wandering nature her boots have green side adornments, including leaves, and laces, with golden hooks to hold the laces in place.
