Name: Jirin
Gender: Male
Race/Species: Elf
Age: Unsure, though by behavior and his best recollection he's around 25 at least in terms of mentality.
Height: 6' even
Weight: circa 180, though he has no idea when he was last weighed or if this is accurate
Build: fit and toned, slightly muscular in the arms
Complexion: slightly tan
Hair: Blond-Brown
Eyes: Green
Other: Bears many scars on his torso, arms, and legs, and a small one on his jaw from old battles
***************
Personality:
Jirin is what many would think of when they consider the word 'hero.' He is charitable to a fault, considerate of others, brave, and willing to go into the darkness to protect those that remain in the light. He considers it his responsibility truth be told as he knows he is trained to fight. His spirit is utterly unbreakable and it matters little what happens to him physically or emotionally as long as evil never wins. It can be a burden at times (much of the time), but he'll bear it with as much fortitude as he can muster.
He's quite humble, often becoming embarrassed when subjected to an overabundance of praise. And though he views himself as a warrior, a defender and champion of those who need him, his self-appointed role makes him value peace even more. He cherishes the days when he can simply relax and go fishing, or spend time cooking a meal for close friends because he knows all too well how quickly that peace can be shattered and he must take up the sword once more to ensure that tomorrow innocent people will be able to regain peace.
***************
Powers/Abilities:
Magic:
Jirin has no direct magic of his own though he is capable of using magic items such as magic weapons and armor as well as more wondrous items.
Weaponry:
He typically fights with a bladed weapon of some sort though whether this is a one-handed weapon or a two-handed weapon varies by what he has at hand and whether he feels he needs to be defensive or aggressive.
Jirin is also skilled with archery, both in terms of hunting and in snipering enemies from afar.
Along with any one-handed weapon he often wields a shield, and if asked indicates that a 'sword and board' style feels the most second nature of them all.
***************
Vulnerabilities
Above all, he is mortal. He is a man, vulnerable to anything that would affect a human. He has no particular physical vulnerabilities.
Mentally is another story. He often struggles under a sense that he must be the hero that everyone needs, running himself to exhaustion. He struggles with doubts that he is strong enough, good enough, and thus can give him a drive to continually prove that he is worthy of the responsibilities he carries and any respect or regard given to him by others. He also struggles with a sense of a past failure, unremembered, that haunts him. Of someone he let down badly and he can never remedy it.
***************
Quirks:
Jirin is a silent individual, literally. He does not speak, instead communicating primarily by sign language though he will also use sign language, body language, gesturing, and writing when all else fails. He makes some noises, such as when he's in battle, or humming when thoughtful. This might make those around him think (accurately) that his silence is more selective rather than physically-caused. Why exactly he is mute is anyone's guess including his own, and though he seems comfortable with it he occasionally feels frustration when he really wants to say something and can't.
His favorite hobby might surprise people: Jirin loves above all else to cook! He's quite instinctual about it, able to try ingredients and then put them together into something delicious even if he's never otherwise had them before. He's a bit more fond of cooking over baking (though food in general is always an enjoyment), but can make some sweet treats from fruit quite well. He will happily cook a wonderful meal for himself, but even more enjoyable is cooking for friends and loved ones and seeing their enjoyment.
In addition to cooking Jirin enjoys music, both listening to it and playing it. Though at current he has no instrument of his own he's quite fond of wind instruments and should he be offered one he'll reveal that like his bladework he has a natural skill for it.
Though it's not mystical in nature he has quite a way with animals, specifically equines and canines. Even the most wild of horses will become gentled under his hand within a few hours at most and all species of dogs readily trust him. Wolves however are something of trial and error; sometimes they will trust or at least avoid conflict with him, sometimes they will attack him with a seeming prejudice.

Recent History:
Jirin's recent history is actually as much a mystery to him as it is to others. After awakening beneath a crystalline dome and stepping from a rune-covered cavern onto Teragaia, he has found that he remembers nothing of what came before. He cannot recall anything from his childhood, loved ones' names, locations he frequented, not even his own birthday or last name. All he can recall is his first name, 'Jirin.'
He found his main gear – a sword, shield, clothing, backpack, and supplies – in the cavern with him and instinctively knows they are his and that they are comfortable in his hand. He discovered he understood how to fish by finding hook and line in his backpack and using it. He realized he knew how to cook, and enjoyed it, by trying. Everything he has uncovered has been due to vague, instinctive recollections or déjà vu.
Jirin also faintly remembers that somehow, he had been involved in something, something big. A battle or war or something of the sort... and failed. Or at least won at such a high cost to himself it forced him to be put in the crystal-covered chamber to recover. What that event was, however, is lost behind the fog in his mind. Sometimes this causes him to fret over what he feels was a failure in his duty, his calling. He also wonders over those he left behind and sometimes certain places or moments will bring flashes back to him. Will he eventually remember everything? Perhaps even Aeon doesn't know that.
But that he is a Teragaia native is undeniable. Jirin knew about the IF from the moment he awoke, and is hardly surprised by its antics. He knows who Aeon is and about the Veiled Shrine, but at the same time the Weyr and friendly, easily approachable dragons of all sizes surprised him so perhaps that gives a little timeline to his past.
